I've seen people face off with a longpole and people that run into the faceoff and try to get the ball and I know they are called longpole middies and d-middies but I don't understand, if they win the faceoff and get the ball up to the offense then do they run off the field, but if they dont win the faceoff they play defense?
Am I right because this might be a position for me.
Thanks

a lsm (long stick middie) is a player who plays defense and carries a long pole but is very quick and can mainly guard middies AND also has very good stick skills. if your on the team and you win the faceoff and your the lsm you get off the field and get the other shorty on and if you lose the faceoff you go play normal defense
lsm is basically just a close defender who goes on and off the field and dosent stay low with the attack when your offense has the ball.
i play lsm and i love it, i get to bring the ball up sometimes and play some offense its a mad fun position. youre probably gonna love it

yeah when you see them facing off that is just basically to counter a really good f/o guy. if u faceoff your job is to stall the other guy to prevent the fast break and wait until the wings come in and give you some help to get the gb

usually LSM plays contain on faceoff... on our team at least. And they usually go in with the D middies and are beastly on GB's

our best face off man usually rakes the ball between his legs behind him. The lsm has an advantage on the ground ball and runs behind him and scoops it up, works all the time. He then runs the ball up, passes to attack and gets off the field. If we do lose the faceoff he plays defense.

yea being an LSM means you're a gb machine, really fast, have endurance, and know how to handle/play with a longstick.
seeing that all you are doing is sprinting on>doing work>than sprinting off, this is a really tiring posiiton.
but i love it because...
1) i pwn at it =]
2) longstick is fun
3) you get to lay people out, AND score
4) you get tons of playing time.
for me, being the team's LSM has gotton me tons of respect.
(feel free to PM me if you have any more questions regarding LSM's, i'd be more than happy to answer them)

LSM= Coolest position and in my opinion the most tiring to play.
Qualities of a LSM:
1)You gotta know how to use a long pole (well duhhh)
2)Groundballs must be an effortless task for you (It causes fast breaks)
3) you can run like a fudging cheetah after you get that GB(Also causes fastbreaks)
4) You must know how to play Close-D if youve lost the face off
5) Must know how to play like a defenseman (sliding, communication, etc)
LSM is really fun if you get into it. You usually get the most GBs on your team and you cause havoc everywhere you go since you dont have to abide to the offsides rule (LSMs are middies)

Is Long pole middie easier or is just normal defence easier?

No position is easy. I got switcheid from full-time D to lsm, when our normal lsm got hurt. It was much different than D. You need to learn how to protect your stick when your running it up, catching, throwing, and GB's are essential, and its a lot more running than D

I also play LSM, and it's a blast to play. I love it. You get lots of playing time as long as your team is playing defense, the only downside is that it is a very tiring position. There is a lot of running on and off the field switching for the middie to play offense.
