Hey everyone,
I know there is a photo thread but this is a bit different. Most of you know this is Inside Lacrosse's 10th anniversary. As part of that, our June issue is going to contain a blowout of the best photos of the past 10 years. This is where you guys come in ... we have our writers, editors, past photographers, subscribers, etc... all telling us what their favorite photos are. It can be an action photo, it can be a photo shoot -- whatever. We just want your opinion. Use this thread to start talking about your favorite photos -- when you mention your faves be sure to include the volume #, issue # and page # -- because we're gonna check them out and possibly re-print them if we agree that that's one of our best.

I know for myself two that stick out are:

The photo Cortland's game-winning goal over Salisbury in last year's championship -- Vol. 10, Iss. 5

The picture of a player from Team Japan from the Women's World Cup where she's spread out on the ground going after a ground ball ... Vol. 9, Iss 6

Let us know -- post here and discuss some of your favorite pictures you've seen in IL.

Great Idea Adam! Sorry but I do not get IL. But I do remember seeing that Cortland picture. IT was a good one.

i guess this one'll come up a lot but i have to say the air gait. you cannot ignore everything that that picture is, its not just a picture to me its also a statement. Being from england and not much lacrosse over here the first time i saw that picture i thought 'i chose the right sport'

theres also a picture of team canada after they won the championships with a couple of them in a line with their moustach's. i like that picture too. i think its in the one with mike law on?

The cover shot with Tillman Johnson and Kyle Harrison from a few years back. They were both on the back of these Japanese racing motorcycles. With the caption "2 Fast 2 Furious". Wearing their jerseys. And the best part...rocking the lacrosse gloves.
Best. IL. Picture. Ever.
This is not a debate...merely a statement of fact.

Hey guys:

Dont post here too often but figured I should chime in on this project. My name is James Schaffer and I am the art director at IL. I will be heading up the selection process for our best photos ever. Next week we are going to be sitting down with our entire editorial staff including photographers, writers and designers and judge top to bottom all of our photos. We are going to be looking at action photos, portraits, feature photos, etc...... and juding them on their historical significance (a la Air Gait) the production quality, uniqueness, creativity, etc.....

This is where it is important for you everyone on the forums to chime in. We really want to get some feedback from our readers because there is just so much to cover and so easy to miss a good photo. I have only been here since the days of the glossy version so I have been playing a lot of catchup the last couple weeks checking out the older newsprint photos hoping I did not miss that "must have" photo.

Also, I am going to make a point to post more often about our creative ideas and get some more direct feedback from you, the readers regarding our designs and layouts.

Feel free to also email me james@insidelacrosse.com if you guys have any input you want to get to me directly.

Thanks everyone....

BTW: one of my favorite photos was the Vail tourney shot two years ago of Sean Morris shooting, photographed by Dave Gottenborg.

I dont know about the magazine but I like the photo in last years calender with the high school players playing in the pouring rain. I thought that was a cool picture just because it shows the joy of playing lacrosse in all the elments. This one.

My favorite one is the one from last year. It was from the Maryland and UMass game where Jack Reid shut off Joe Walters in the game and kept him to no points. It shows Jack Reid running wih his arms in the air and Joe Walters walking away looking very depressed. I absoultely love that picture. Unfortunatly, I don't remember which issue it was from.

Change my avatar? Are you crazy? As you may know I am a UMass grad but for the sake of editorial credibility I will certainly change it to some sort of neutral image. I think I chose that thing by default a couple years ago.
