After lacrosse season is over I intend on starting a pretty good workout routine to help get stronger over the summer and winter.
In order to boost my workouts I have been thinking about taking a suppliment,(Mainly thinking about protein), but I have a couple of questions.

Should you be a certain age before you start taking suppliments (I am 15, almost 16)?
Is there any chance that taking suppliments will stunt my growth? (i am still expecting a decent growth spurt)
Would you reccomend a certain suppliment for someone in my situation? I would want somehting that is not too expensive, is good, and deosn't taste too horrible. (Trying to gain weight and become stronger)

I know next to nothing about suppliments, so any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot!

Protein is the way to go. I am also 15 (almost 16) and I have used protein for a couple years. My fovorite is body fortress whey, you can find it at wal-mart. It tastes good and it's only ten bucks a tub. Stay away from other supplements at this age though.

So i guess that suppliments and protein are different?

For now, all I'm going to say is stay away from anything that you cannot legally buy yourself, ie caffeine, ephedra, pro-hormones, etc. Everything else is pretty much fair game, but do some research before you pick your poison.

Protien is perfectly safe to take and is not concidered a supplement. When you are trying to gain muscle you should be taking in about as many grams of protien as your body weight per day. This includes your normal meals that you eat not just the shakes. Whey protien is what you should look into buying. There are a lot of different kinds out there that vary in quality and price so try to get some reviews on some before you buy one. At your age you are already producing enough testosterone in your body that you do not need to take any other kinds of suppliments such as creatine.

I would recommend setting up a proper nutrition before getting into supplements. Without proper nutrition, no supplements will help. Using protein will not do any harm so it is a good thing to use. You can wait to get a bit older to use the others.
