Oh man, I wanna go to that tourney so bad. I'm down in Vegas. We have some guys on our team that went to State Championships for football against Galena and they wanna play Galena so bad. Half of our players were crying after the loss because they were pretty much cheated out of the win due to 5 of the starters being arrested. When the Galena players were interviewed they said "we were hitting them so hard that they were crying." The coach passed out this newspaper article to all of the varsity players and I know guys who live by that now.


If they ever get to play Galena again, it's gonna be a bloodbath, literally.

Anyways, good luck down in OC. I'm pissed off that I couldn't go. At least, I don't think our team is going...

Spanish Springs is 2-1. 1st game v. Galena was a scrimmage. Good game though, you beat us 8-6 pretty handily. Galena is now 2-5. Hopefully we wake up. Has truckee played a game yet? I heard we might have some end of season tournament at Damonte, any news on that?

No the first game was not a scrimmage it was part of our season and since we played u twice now we still might play u again cause we dont follow the schedule very well so it should be another good game if we play u guys again and what number are u on the team cause we should talk after or during the game and are u guys going to the tourny in sac and truckee has not played we are the first to play them soon and the we are still trying for the tourny at damonte still and we finally got a field at spanish springs so u guys might come to our field

Some of the Las Vegas coaches contacted Galena about playing again. So maybe the inner tourney that SSHS mentioned could work out! SSHS, including scrimmages and tourney we're 3-6. Without scrimmages 2-5. My identity will be released prior to the Sacramento tournament were all going to. Though two hints will be given, I'm Galena's Fastest and best conditioned player, and I'm not one of the two eggshell helmets.

How is your guys administrations treating you? Galena's wasn't to happy about having us. Damonte's seems pretty cool, they play games in their brand new football stadium.

i played with a broken Thumb, big bruise on my left elbow.

we had like 40 shots and the freaking turf bounced them so high

we won 7-4 pretty sad more then half the game we put in our guys who did not ever play so thats where they had two of their goals

well the first half they took maybe 10 shots with our starters only 2 goals. one was lucky dive deflection in. then whenwe played the new kids who havndt played really they got about 15 shots 2 goals

I'm not sure when we play again. Truckee had a lot of trouble clearing the ball and there goalie doesn't stay home. We got a couple of goals because the goalie got spooked and then got checked or made a bad pass. But, I guess their best attackman is hurt. Then again, only a few players seemed athletic, not a lot of team speed. We used a new goalie this game after our starting goalie got hurt and we realized we had no real back up.

I'm excited for Sacramento tourney since probably Galena, Reno, and Spanish SPrings can win at least one game. Hopefully I can play in it.

For the jv level tourney, we'll do fine. We went 1-3 at the bets of the west in vegas, and we'd practiced a couple weeks. We play better when were under dogs, but, you know how small most of the kids on our team are. And the teams we played are better then the Sac. Teams from last year.

We're having playoffs? Hmm, hopefully Galena V. SSHS. Its between us two and reno. but, you put them down pretty handily. Seeding would probably be. 1 SSHS 2. Reno 3. Galena 4. Truckee(if they come down) 5. Damonte. So, I'm pretty confident you'd be in the finals somewhat easily. If we have playoffs I hope I can play in them.

I was going by win-loss, not goals. Scoring margin isn't as useful since all it would do is encourage running up the score. I imagine w/ a win-loss seeding damonte and truckee would play to face the #1 seed. Is it assured we're having playoffs?

Which one? For the impressive ones, yes and no. It was cooling seeing the save, but we were losing, so a goal would have been better. I thought the best one was when you stuffed Vance or Stefan I think 1st quarter. Might have been Jack, wasn't sure, all three were in the same place.

Oh, I am a starter. But I am the guy in a immobilizer. I haven't played since the game you beat us 8-6, when I started at middie instead of attack. And I'd missed the game before that with a differnt injury in the other knee. So, my season sucked. I played in the Las Vegas tournament, Reno game, and the game against you I mentioned earlier. So, started every game I played in, but I only played in 6 games.

They've started at attack most of the season. I started at attack last year, and then this year again. Jack played midfield last yr but got hurt at the start of the season. So I played attack until Jack came back and had practiced a while, then I switched to midfield so we could get all of our best players to start. Then I got hurt. Lol. Out of main area's for lacrosse in California, you are playing in the newest area to have lacrosse. The highest ranking in team in the are is Bella Vista and the play most of their games against bay area teams. Unless you play some bay area teams, San Diego teams or Los Angeles teams, you can not count this as playing quality California teams

Spanish Springs should win two games. Reno and Galena should win one each. But common LAX_Conejo, stop putting norther nevada teams down in posts, we're getting their. Galena beat Faith Lutheran JV from Las Vegas 7-2, and we're not even the best team, as well as playing utah teams close. FL varsity has been #2 in the state last yr, and might be the best this yr, so good signs for northern nevada :) Give it another few years, and we will be respected by other west coast teams!

I did not put you down, I said you are not playing teams worthy to be called California's finest. The word Jamboree kind of gives it away. CIF will not allow their teams to play club teams. Of the top 20 teams in CA, only two are club.

sshsgoalie - no, we will not be at the Jamboree. State Club championships are next week and our league is sending two teams.

but the team i play for is pretty good we only lost once to Reno but because we only had 3 subs second time we played with full squad killed 11-1

None of us have played Bonanza. I'd expect we will play them as a varsity team next year. At the moment however, they would most likely destroy us, at least on paper. But then again, thats probably what Faith Lutheran JV thought when we played them, and they didn't fair so well, becoming the first team outside of Reno to lose to another reno team. SSHS, what was your second game versus Reno like? I know you beat them handily, but was it just a matter of a lack of execution on their part or just total dominance on yours?

Total Dominance, lol there offence rarly had the ball, the had probably 5 shots 2 hit post, 1 missed badly and other hit leg. other shot was ofcourse a goal

7-5 we lost the first time. It was dumb, all we needed to do was make it more up-tempo, but we couldn't do that. Then we lost 6-3 in an up-tempo game, where we couldn't control the ball. It became vastly apparent that not many of us are in good conditioning.

For the tourney maybe we should have just made a N.N. all-star team and entered as a varsity team. We could probably do pretty well if we made one. Win least half the games.

Bonanza beat Faith Lutheran for state. I play for Palo Verde, but everyone who even knows anything about lacrosse down here in Vegas was talking about that game. I guess Bonanza did really good against them. And I know it was a while ago, but we did end up getting to go down the OC that weekend, but we didn't do too well. It seemed like there were some referees there that hated Vegas teams. Bonanza took 1st in the tourney though, so that worked out pretty nicely.

kk, yeah even though we have won the Northen Nevada Championship we still have to play Truckee which was a rechedual, which we already beat 13-0

Truckee would be good if they started their season a little earlier. They first game was our second to last game before the tournament lmao. The southern teams invited galena to play them again to try to help get lacrosse more streamlined in the state. Wasn't really in the cards, and although we did fine in the best of the west we figured Spanish Springs should be the representative of the north since they became the best team.
Next season we want to have a fall ball game(s) so everyone, brand new players, returning players, and coaches can play to get the preseason started. Next season we will probably have off season lifting and hopefully get the support of our athletic administration, mainly the AD. She's running out of reasons to discriminate. Hopefully the trend of 100% growth will continue. Any idea of other teams planning to form? Seems like McQueen would be a natural as well as Manogue.

umm yea our team had playued for 4 and a hlaf monhs, and all the players are leaving lol, next year there supossed to get a bunch of new guys that should start out good. but if reno is like they are thuis year, they will gain Northern Nevada CHamps

More the better. Hopefuly we can get up to 8 or more teams and have two conferences like every other sport. Two years ago we were the only team in town and just scrimmaged between ourselves. Next year there including myself there will be two of us from the original club starters.
Last year we were on top, but there was two teams, Galena and Reno. So we beat Reno seven times. We weren't successful in Sacramento mainley because we were a bunch of role players and our best player, Trevor Applebaum broke his hand two days before the tournament.
Next year I think it will be wide open. I think it will be between Reno, Spanish Springs, Galena, and Truckee. Reno has a big team, but loses it's best player and a number of seniors. You guys lose 9/17 players, which is harder to do when you're that good. Galena has two seniors, and a lot of sophomores, but no d-poles atm. Truckee, they looked for not having much practice, and they have a youth league, but will they start at a decent time? Should be a good year.

Bonanza is the best team. Then probably Faith Lutheran. Competition is ok. Never played any Mo teams. If you've played Jordan from Utah, one of Utah's best teams, they beat Bonanza by one.

yea i played with bonanza a few games during summer league a few years ago..they were pretty good. i think im going to cornado and from the people the people ive talked to i get the feeling theyre not that great...anyone know how they are looking next year?

Not sure. They weren't to great last season, (4-10) got blown out by FL, Centennial/Meadows, and Bonanza, the top three in the state.

No. SSHSGoalie and I are Northern Nevada. Reno/Sparks to be specific. Vegas has been playing 4-6 years longer then any of us have.

Manogue has a good chance of having a team next year because we have a kid on our team from there and his dad is our assistant coach, and we also have a McQueen kid, so they probably will have a team. I didn't hear about North valleys but that would be sweet.

Which one of you ranked all the attackmen from Galena as the best in the region?

I'm back up face and I only played in like 5 games this season because I play soccer in the spring too. The face of guy and his little brother are both on our starting middie line with me. We didn't go to a preseason tournament, i think that was about last year in Sac.

Ah, didn't know about the SS attack. Whenever I saw SS play it was always their midfield doing the work. To bad Vance had the idea of forming an all-star team from our region to play as varsity team a week or two to late. Otherwise the team probably would have done well in Sac.

Both of our goalies were Sophomores like me and are pretty much equal. The smaller one has more skills than the big one, but...I'll just say the big one's a natural goalie

Yeah, I only played in our first game against SS when I took the face offs but missed the other two cause of injury and soccer.

We came pretty close this year, and with 8 teams next year we could have an entire tournament instead of just having the top two teams play each other. Pretty soon we could even do a state Vegas teams if our football coach starts letting his players do lax.

How does your football coach decide what sports his players play in the off-season? I thought a lot of your new players were football players. Our Coach was asked to coach JV football last year since they needed someone and then he could try and get more athletics kids to play lax, but then the varsity coach asks his players to do track lol. You'd think football coaches would lax since their players would be hitting in the off season and in better shape.

Our football coach also is the head track coach and "strongly encourages" all the football players to do track. That's why we won state this year, cause all the best athletes at our school who want to play football kind of have to do track. A few of them play lax (our goalie, a starting defender, a kid on my mid line) but not as many as would like too. I heard rumors that that guy might get replaced by a younger coach who likes lax, so that would be sweet, but i'm not sure...

Aside from the football players, we have like 2 soccer players, and then the rest are kids who are on like the ski team or bowling squad, or even don't play any sports at all.

That'd be cool if a new lax friendly coach came by. I think Galena's football is just afraid kids will like lax better then football. Our AD is afraid that club lax will take away from her baseball and track teams, but its mostly bs. Our track team lost a lot of people, but none of them played lax, and our baseball team is pretty selective so we'd just be taking kids who were cut, but none of those kids played either. Hopefully we can have 8 teams and then have state playoffs formatted like football or basketball. We're probably 2-4 years away from that, but maybe next season. We should all practice together so we can at least form an all-star team to compete with them.

that's what sunday's at UNR this summer is for, to practice together and bring new kids along to get them into lax. That's how we got half our team to join by inviting them to watch and play at UNR. I don't know id an all-star team is necessary, are they really that good? Last year at Sac were my first games and I missed Sac this year so I really don't know much about teams outside of Reno.

The Sacramento teams aren't that good. But the Vegas varsity teams like Bonanza and Faith Lutheran are. When we were in Vegas, Jordan JV from utah destroyed us 10-3, since they're rides and clearing were good. Their mids were pretty good also, so they probably could have put 20 on us if it wasn't for our defense. Bonanza HS, only lost to that schools varsity team by one. So to compete with those Vegas teams I think right now we would need to make an all-star team.

It was. It was sad, if we'd been able to get the ball on the right end of the field, it would have been a game. Their goalie was actually not all that good. Saved 1/4 or 2/5.

I agree that teams from Reno don't have much of a chance against Las Vegas yet, but we should still get a shot at you. Probably 3-5 years behind maybe. No matter the result northern teams will benefit from the experience and know how much ground we have to make up, and it will help lacrosse grow in the state. Good thing we didn't lose to Faith Lutheran JV then. Hopefully we will play in the varsity division for the best of the west next year. For Galena a lot of it depends on our top five players, if we can convince our coach that we can make up for the lack of depth then we will do it, and if not then we will have to play JV again :(
