A high school lacrosse player from the Rochester are died Thursday after being struck in the head by a ball before a game on Wednesday, according to the ROC Democrat and Chronicle.
Jeff Milano-Johnson, 14 a freshmen who played on the varsity for Pittsford Sutherland High School, was retrieving a ball in front of the goal during pregame warmups. He stood up, with his back to the field, and was hit in the back of the head just below his helmet by a ball launched by a teammate, the newspaper reported.
The accident occured before a game at Spencerport High School. The game was canceled, and Milano-Johnson was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital, where he died Thursday.
