Can someone please explain the basics of playing man on man defense as a d-pole? My team mostly runs a zone defense, which i play great in, but sometimes we shift to man if we need to. I thought i knew how to play man but whenever we go from zone to man my coach pulls me out and puts somebody else in. :banghead: frustrating

i'm pretty sure there's a thread on this but it's all about body position...even though you're playing a man you have to remember to play team D & get yourself in a good position for anything & everything (slides, cutters, actual one on one D)...the easiest way to learn is practice & watch some other guys....as far as one on one's go w/ a man to man defense you have to play good position & use certain techniques like the V hold (these can all be found in the defense tutorial) & such to push your man away from the goal

the key is taking away your mans angle on the goal the further hes gets inside the better his angle gets and the easier his shot will be bud. Dont follow him go where he wants to be not where he is!! Turn him back behind the goal. Im very experienced playing man cause we run a man D and zone only on mandown plays.. Just try the stuff above and keep up the good work and you will be strait bud...
