dont worry about getting hit. when you anticipate the pain it actually makes it hurt worse. true story

Just think to yourself that even if you get hit, it wont hurt. You've got padding, and you are man enough to take it.

be hungry
you gotta want to hit the guy...hard...and make him cry.
i would persoanlly rather get an amazing hit than a goal, but every body is different
a kid on my team is really good but he's played like girl since i've started playing. the last 2 games he's finally started hitting and he is now our best attackman.

the key is: don't think, do

Hit the weight room and gain more confidence in your strength, and ability to hit people

I'm 12, so I'm pretty much in the same situation, and today in a game the first time I got the ball I was plastered. I went down, and jumped back up. Just don't think about it. I guess I'm used to it because I play hockey and I'm small (and young) for my level. As the other guys said, don't think, just do.

I had a game today and I got smacked around a lot. But none of them hurt cause I just didn't think about it. I got hit with a shot too but I didn't really care so I just kept playing. Don't think about being hit, just react to the moment and you'll be fine.

Just hit stuff dude. It doesn't hurt that bad. Gets the adrenaline going. I get the crap beat out of my every game because i could care less about getting hit.
Ask Viking goalie about the game today. I was spread eagle on the ground about 50 percent of all groundballs. It also helps I'm pretty small, but whatever. Just be aggressive, go watch 300 or something, get pumped before games.

I used to have the same problem, but then I just though getting hit doesnt hurt as much as im aticepating it to. And just dont think about it or you will physque yourself out. Make the ball your number 1 priority and do everything you can do to get it and dont think about the other guys on the field. Sometimes I find listening to music before the game can help me play better because it makes me more hungry and pumped up, which makes me play more physical.

And for hitting when a guy is coming up to you give yourself a wide base, bend your knees and push up. This is the most effective way, I find, to hit because it gets the other guy off balance.

good luck.

The harder you hit them the less it hurts you

when you hit though, hit low near their hips. i COMPLETELY layed some kid out that look like he was like 200 lb and im only 125 lb. it pushes them off balance completely.

Just like everyone else says, don't think about it and just nail the guy and it won't hurt you as much as the other person. But also be smart, if there is a guy thats coming up on you from fifteen yards away and it's just you and him don't go helmet to helmet to him because then you'll get crushed. In those situations though, use my favorite move, just do a quick dodge to make him miss you and that big D man will go flying away and you can get the ball easy! Otherwise use that small body of yours to get into tight spots and get the ball.

If you still dont have the confidence to really hit someone just start slow by getting in close on your d pole and start putting your elbow or the end of your stick in his side. Then on the clear start hitting him for real.

run as fast as you can, get lower than him, and dont stop running until hes on the ground. the more you do it, the more confidence and ability you will have at hitting.

and if you need dire help, start football.

I'm a converted football player and I have TONS of bad habit like putting my head down when I hit, and its affecting my game

Stand in there and be tough. The last thing I wanna see as a D man is for me to plaster some one and bounce back up and brush it off like nothing happened.

Yeah, I'm the strongest player on my team, I do play football, but it is 90% mental. If you can have confidence you can nail someone, you can do it. Must of the time, you only have to do it once and they won't mess with you again.

the only hits that really hurt are the illegal ones when a guy gets you from behind and he nails the back of ur neck, i experianced that in 7th grade, but all other hits are pretty sweet they dont really hurt at all.

Be tough and be aggressive. Don't pay attention to the stick hitting you and you won't feel it as much. Plus, if you score and get laid out, then it'll be so much easier to brush it off.

well, if they hit you it obviously means one thing. DECK THEM.
Have confidence in yourself young one, all will be well.

Rib Pads help a lot :-) And weightlifting gives you the needed confidence. I allways play harder when I did weightlifting about one or two days before a game. And do it for at least twice a week. But you´re still young so be carefull and patient and start with low weights.
And most Important: When you´re about to hit someone you need to do at least one more step then he does, get low and DO NOT slow down. That´s all :-) You´ll get that
