for all of us box players who dont have the luxury of playing on turf, do any of you guys know a way to add a little stickiness to the bottom of your shoes?

i searched, but only found a thread on how to restore shoes that have already been warn down. Keep in mind that mine are brand new, yet slippery like mad.

Coke and hairspray are the most common/easiest to find ones. One of my friends once went to the trouble of putting tree sap on his shoes because slipping cost him an empty netter haha.

Coke and hair spray work, but they don't tend to last. "Tree sap" is the way to go. Powdered, it's used for everything from industrial strength stickyness to powdering violin bows. It's called rosin. Unfortunately, it's kind of hard to find.

coke and hairspray only work for a little while. the reason your shoes are slippery is the dust and dirt on the bottom. hairspray and coke just pick up more dirt and dust. with my team at the end of the bench we have a puddle of water so if your shoes are slippery you just get them wet and wipe them off with a towel. works the best.

if you wana use hairspray bring a hand towel and the spray on the bench and just wipe off the bottem of your shoes every few shifts and respray them.

o yeah and buy cheep airisol cans that are strong hold like the stuff that makes your hair rock hard the airisol makes it quick and easy and the extra hold is stickier.

Just keep the bottoms of your shoes clean.... You don't need Coke, Rosin or anything else. Lay some damp towels behind the bench and walk over them when you come off the floor. Scrub your feet around a bit if you feel you need it. The floor is not that dusty and the others will not give you much of an edge.
Goalies maybe because their area is small enough that they're not going to pick up alot of stuff and if they do they can re-apply after they've picked up most of it.

yeah keeping the bottom of your shoes clean helps alot
just keep wiping them
and hairspray does help but you have to let it dry.

Best thing I did was buy a pair of basket ball shoes. We are on concrete and I was playing in running shoes. Everytime I cut it was like some one pulled a rug out from under me.

Last week I bought a cheep pair of basketball shoes. RBK I think. I had no problems on the floor wearing them.

I agree, I bought my son a pair of $30 basketball shoes and it makes a big difference.

You can get rosin at any music store. But what I find is just make shure you keep your souls clean like every time you come of just run your hand down the soul to get the dust off.
