wow that is really bad i really liked Perritt and now this year he really wasted a great oppourtunity to play for a school with such tradition and legacy people would kill for the chance to play with that team and hes walking away from it

im thinking his leaving has more to do with the fact that he got arrested a couple weeks ago, not an injury.

im happy he's leaving, I dont want to see lacrosse teams end up like Ohio State Football, where someone usually gets arrested or in Miami or something. (no offense to anybody)

yes but getting arrested isn't usual in lacrosse, we aren't felons, like bball player and football players (not saying that every one of those players is a felon but it seems most popular in those sports to get arrested)

I vote people stop the stereotyping of sports and crime in this thread before something bad happens

you didn't understand me though. i'm not stereotyping, all i'm saying is that more arrests happen to people in those sports than any others, it's just a fact. i'm sorry if that upsets you.

Perhaps after he withdraws from the 'cuse he will sufer from some withdrawal symptoms..... However you butcher the grammer, it's loss to Syracuse for sure. Then again getting ripped up and then arrested is not recomended behavior as a DI athete. Rule #1 is don't, under any circumstance ever, get caught.

Do you know if there are numbers out there supporting this? I think you'd be pretty surprised with the numbers even outside of basketball and football. I can't back that up, but just from visiting campuses and talking to friends, I can tell you that it's not just the football and basketball boys getting in trouble, they just happen to get a lot of press when they do. Numbers probably aren't as high, but other athletes definitely get in their fair share of trouble, even in lacrosse.

Grammar... I hope you intentionally misspelled that?

Here's the article for anyone who's interested- http://www.syracuse.com/articles/sports/index.ssf?/base/sports-0/1176627490273251.xml&coll=1

No, your post shows that you were stereotyping... You specifically said, “lacrosse players are not felons, like bball and football players.” If you don't think that sounds like you're throwing the criminal tag on all bball and football players, you're crazy.

As for your 'facts', there is also a much greater # of people who play the two sports you mentioned compared to lax.

I never said it was only them, but all of the sports arrests I have seen other than the pat perrit one have been guys from football and basketball, I understand that when i said it was a fact that i was wrong, but i'm not saying all of them get arrested or are felons, allI said is when sports players are arrested it is usually from those sports.

For anyone who saw the Cornell game, late in the game he fell over and limped off the field. Could this be the injury they are referring too?

It doesn't make sense for him to leave 2 or 3 games after his suspension ended, I really think it's an injury.

Edit: Put 2 and 2 together and thought of a reason why he might not be there anymore, but it's not really any of our business and spreading rumors isn't a good thing...

Can't anyone take the guys statement as what it is? Maybe he really has a serious injury? I doubt this had anything to do with him getting arrested. But what do I know.

Something doesn't feel right, he was on scholarship right? Doesn't the University still have to fufill it if he stopped playing?

This sucks for Syracuse, it's going to be hard to win out now.

Yes, if he was injured during lacrosse the school will continue his scholarship for the year as long as he complies with the rest of the University and athletic codes (don't know how the second part of this is affecting him). If a student-athlete voluntarily withdrawals from the team though or doesn't comply with the codes, the University is not obligated to continue fulfilling the scholarship for the year.

how can you say that about OSU. Yes there have been a couple bad eggs (Maurice Clarret) but if you want to talk about bad eggs you should talk about Miami Football or Florida State. Last time I checked there hasnt been an on field brawl in the history of the program.

he got arrested a few weeks ago when he got drunk and then resisted arrest, and either him or the other player he was with hit a cop or something like that. i dont remember exactly what happened, but basically he made a bad choice.

"I can assure you that my future actions and decisions will help to show people the type of person I truly am," he said. "I am seeing an alcohol counselor and have stopped drinking."

Regrettably, it sounds as though Mr. Perritt's situation has less to do with
medical issues and more to do with alcohol abuse.
