Just wondering how much running everyone does at their practices.
Sometimes I think our coach is crazy for making us run as much as we do and no one in the country runs as much as us.

We don't run too much most of the time. We'll do sprints before and after practice. Like field suicides and stuff like that.
We do Indian runs around the field for warmups.
One time we ran around the school. ( Our school is huge, its a highschool, middle school, and huge auditorium in the center.) It's seriously one of, if not the biggest school complex in NC.
But all in all, we don't run to much

i know teams that run timed miles and laps on their schools track in full equipment so unless you guys are doing that, dont even talk
we run on our track too, lots of 400s

we run alot if there is not a game the next day, if so then none. my coach always thinks of cruel and unusuall ways to punish us with running.
after a loss we run as many as we lost by 110 yrd sprints
for warm up we have a long and a short lap. we run the short lap if we have sprints at the end, the long lap if not, but sometimes long + sprints.

We run a mile and a half when the parking lot is flooded and we just do suicides other wise.

we do fun runs which is like 2 miles and then some sprints after every drill, but last year everyone joked(even kids who didnt play lacrosse but saw us running) that we were a track team instead of a lax team because for about forty minutes we did suicides do to the coach being mad he was sent down from varsity but he disguised it by "trying to make us better palyers".He was a nice guy, but if hes mad you know it.

Rosie411

our first day we had to run 2 800s, 3 600, and 4 400s all timed for the varsity team---then we had a week of 3 miles then full contact practice.
Now we only run once in a mile.... by the way we did all of that in SWEATS

bigdale9
04-16-2007, 06:00 PM
2-5 laps around a normal size running track 10 sprints and sometimes a tour about 1 mi
sometimes 10-25 hills
all this depends on the weather and how close we are to a game and how mad are coach is at us

We ran 12m's:30's of hills yesterday

A shot that should of been a goal. Or sidearm'd shot=30 seconds.

But usually it's not to unbearable. The hills aren't actually that hard they just tire your legs.

But when we run sprints. He thrown in bear crawls...Back Pedal...High knee's....

Idk running sucks, and my team does a fair amount (BTW switching and running on a track then playing on a grass feild is a recipe for shin splints) but our team played at a tournament and got into a huge brawl with another team. Our coach was so furious, when we got back to our high school, it was the most painful hour of my life. We had to sprint from activity to activity, and they included bear crawls, 6 inches, fireman carries, wheel barrows, push-ups (alot), pushing air up over your head (it surprisingly hurt alot), Up downs, squat jumps and sooo much more. I could barely move the next morning....

You guys are lucky. Our coaches never make us run. Its alot better to be dead tired in practise, then in a game.

yup mine to..we run soooo much. coach says we will never lose a game because we are unconditioned.

the occasional hike around the field. Its middle school though so it doesn't matter too much. It's mostly just which kid can pick up a ground ball.

My team doesn't run that bad, we do what they call "12 Minutes In Hell"
We have to do a timed sprints around the field (first one supposed to be 55 seconds or under, then 1:00, then 1:05, then 1:10), each time we get back to the starting point we do a different thing (push-ups, sit-ups, leg-lifts, mountain climbers, etc)

I'm not a fan of it, but I know it could be worse so I don't complain..

I have a crazy coach. We run, like sprints and stuff, but he makes us do some weird stuff. Limee today, he made us do a sprint, and then climb to the top of a fence. One time, we had to to cumersalts all the way down the feild.

aha Joe, worse then last year? this year my new team runs like a mile warm up , kinda weird. then thursday we have 6 sprints :( (down back, down back) which is killer

For warmups we do half a mile then dynamic stretching. After that we do fartlegs which is when you run around a track sprinting the straightaways and jogging the corners for 2 miles, then we run regular 2 miles timed, then if its a conditioning day we'll do hills and sprints.

as a player, i hated running, but as a coach, i'd like to add an hour of running to every practice.

there is no substitute for running, you cant possibly get enough. and late in the game, the guys and gals that run the most at practice, are the ones that will have the best legs, and best chance of winning the game.

Midman03
04-18-2007, 07:10 PM
we do 6 west points at the beginning of every practice. west point is when you sprint the length, jog the width then when you get back to where you started you do 15 push-ups then keep going doing that 6 more times. its BRUTAL. but its good for you and gets your stamina up. i thnank him though when im not tired during a game and the other team is.

when we run on the track we wear tenis shoes

lvillelax26
04-18-2007, 08:44 PM
we run 4 warmup laps, then sprints in the end...it sucks but in the 4th quarter when the other team is gased, were still good

powell22
04-19-2007, 02:44 PM
our typical is 12 50 yard sprints half way through practice and alot 100s at the end. and if we mess up big time, our sprints are to the restraining box and back multiple times, next big mistake, midfield and back multiple times, next mistake far restarining and so on..

Diabetic_Lax
04-22-2007, 02:57 PM
we do alot of distance running...we practice at a park that is about twice the normal size of a track and the other day we did about 15 laps whick sucked pretty bad im not going to lie and we do sprints alot when we lose and when we dont have a game the next day but one of the fun things that was pretty hard was our team didnt really talk to each other so our coach made us do an indian run and when we got back we ran in a circle for about 20 minutes......doing the hokey pokey.... no joke.... it was pretty sweet though

we do these things called 3 minute drills, its basically 8 110 yard sprints in 3 minutes. We do up to 8 of those in a row.

baylorlax6
04-22-2007, 06:22 PM
we run a lap around the field for warm-ups and then about lots of suicides to end practice.

angrypork
04-22-2007, 06:23 PM
During practices that aren't before games, we usually do 2 full field gassers (restraining back, mid back, opp. restraining back, opp. endline back), two midline back endline back, and then when we're really tired and feeling like crap we do a 4th quarter one thats usually either a full field or just an endline back.

While we're running these we also have to carry a ball in our sticks. Whenever the coach blows his whistle we have to drop the ball, hit the ground yell "BALL RELEASE" then jump back up, pick up the ball and continue running.

naptownlax101
04-22-2007, 06:49 PM
we do westpoints

laolax
04-22-2007, 06:52 PM

then we usually do about 2 miles worth of sprints maybe more.

lately we havnt but the first three weeks were mostly running

Us, on varsity, don't do much running at all. The Coach prefers to work on other parts, but we do some suicide type stuff, not too hard at all.

JV has to run a lot though.

CSlax06

A warm up lap and about 4-6 sprints at the end of practice.

cavgoalie7
04-22-2007, 07:39 PM
we condition every practice, unless we have a game the next day. We usally do either 12 triple full field suicides, 12 full field sprints jog back, 10 minutes distance jogging, or a relay race

freeskier1292
04-23-2007, 08:01 AM
we never run

Dadabhoy_Muzzi
04-23-2007, 04:16 PM
We do a 10 minute run down to a valley. Then back up. We then have our practice with even more running. At the the end of practice, we all line up and have to make perfect passes. For everyone we drop, we have to do 1 lap. Right now, we have been doing the train. Our coach wants us to be the team that can outlast everyone.

We do alot of conditioning. The usual is mabe ten minutes of indian runs and a few sprints. But we have done like a six mile run before and several times we've done 10 100's 8 80's 6 60's 4 40's and 2 20's. each was a full out sprint.

scarsdalelax
04-27-2007, 09:50 PM
assuming we're not being punished for anything we'll start by running around the track 8 times(2 miles) 4 50's in udner 12 seconds(we go untill we make at least 4 in the time) then we'll go into stuff with the balls, then about half way through practice we usually do about 6-8 full field(100 yard) sprints, and at the end 5-10 suicides that go from endline to 35 yrd line back to end line to 50 back to endline to 85 yrd line, back to goal line and then all the way down, if our coach is mad(very rare) practice is ridiculous, luckily we;re playnig well this season 7-1 and we beat one of the best teams in our area 10-2 that was suppose to kill us Fox Lane HS if u have heard of it

When we were inside the gym we had to do "7-11's" which are down and back acrosse the gym 11 times in under 70 seconds. We also had to run 5 miles because when we ran in the halls kids would spit and the janitors noticed and sent coach a note. Plus all the running we had to do when we were inside (i dont know how much that was). We just do sprints outside, nothing to major, our coach is pretty happy with us since our record is 3-0 right now and all our games have been compete blow-outs, over a 10 goal lead.

Mustangs30
04-28-2007, 06:53 PM
worst stuff we had to do was 8 full field suicides in a row, railroads up and down the field twice, piggy back sprints, wheel barrow up and down the field twice, this thing where two groups start out at opossite sides of the sidelines at the midfield lines and both go counter clockwise onw group jogs the other group spirts to catch up with them we did like 5 in a row, and mile runs. all with full equipment. these varied over all our practices so pretty much every practice sucked on running.

We run 3-4 miles on days that aren't before a game day, plus at least 6 full field ladders

our team is crazy about conditioning. we have a coach that is on the staff for the soul purpose of getting us in shape. he just got out of 8 years in the marines, and he is one bad-A-M-F. he thinks up some ridiculous stuff to do, like we do indian runs except when the last guys sprint to the front of the line, he keeps going until the coach blows the whistle, then they slow down to a jog & everyone has to sprint until the catch the first 2. and the entire time, if you are sprinting you have to scream while you are running. it gets so hard to sprint and scream at the same time. and for the record, it is almost may & our entire team still has to wear pants to practice. it is horrible.

yaeh my team is supposed to run two warm up laps but we normally only run one... but other than the running that normally occurs in pratice that's it... like we hardly ever run sprints and our punishment is normally 10 hills but the hill isn't that big... in fact the most running we ever did was under 2 miles and that was cuz one of our players got caught leavin like an hour too early for a game.

the next 'one'

we practice on a field that has 2 full-size lax fields, and for warm-up we run around both fields twice. about 2 or maybe 3 times a week we go to this hill that is about 50 yards long and fairly steep and do around 7 hills, and sometiems we do sprints. i don't think we do too much running, but what's surprising is that our team is one of the most conditioned teams in the league. and that helps when we only have 6 or 7 subs on the bench at a time.

well while it was snowing outside or too cold, my team had to run up stairs for 30 straight minutes and they were 3 flights of them, but when we got to the bottom we had to bear crawl all the way down the hall, then sprint back and go back up the stairs and repeat for 30 minutes straight, then after that we had to go to sprints with another coach for 30 minutes like latters, then the last 30 minutes were we set up all the sticks and you had to do like high knees really fast through them and run back to the beginning and start again

We warm up with a 2 mile run, then we do sprints or sprints up a steep hill or piggy back sprints. Some days we get about 4 miles in full gear.

The other day, our coach made us run for the entire practice (2 hours). It was because on the bus home from a tournament, ab bunch of kids were goofin off and throwin stuff out the window and pickin fights with each other, ect. it sucked.
