in the very rare cases when you take a defender on 1vs1, with no help on his side, what would you say the best dodge would be? (since most involve switching hands or lots of room)

Don't they call them "dekes" in Canada? :)
Roll or bull.
I saw a guy do a crappy swim "dodge" and got hammered by a decent D guy just waiting for that arm to move...pretty sweet hit actually...

ya if you try the swim on any decent defender, youll be on your NO CURSING so fast. My personal favorite move is the spin right off the chest of the defender.

Split dodge. Or run him over.

face dodge keeping the stick in your dominant hand, or roll dodge towards the middle of lane...

theres not really much dodging in box usually its the 2 man game where your working picks and all that not enough room to "dodge" as you outdoor guys call it

well, the term dodge can be very misleading.... basically the question is: what do you do in box to get your hands free for a pass or a shot?... that's my definition of a dodge....
as stated though, there really isn't a whole lot of one on one match ups... it's a lot of pick and rolls... two man game...

if your a beast go right through them, but idealy you want a north to south dodge if your coming down the rink. I like to take the ball down low near the corner then start to run tward the top but cut back quick take it to the net then dive through the crease. no one expects you to cut to the outside so it works pretty well as long as your quick.

Look at Jalbert though, he's great at the swim move....makes others look bad.

Drop shoulder and run straight through but know your limits if it dosent work you will bounce off and move the ball on.

Split dodge in box? You do a split in box and you leave yourself open to a can opener or the dreaded pit-check type. And I am betting even a decent D guy is going after that pit-check! That'll larn yeh.
You could rename it the go-back-the-way-you-came-dodge or the hi-there-meet-the-boards dodge. :agree:
