After I practice shooting for an extended amount of time my hips hurt and feel weak. Almost like I am an old person hobbling around. I figured this is probably from repetitive wear on the hips from the wind up of the shot.

Has anyone else had problems with their hips resulting from shooting. I did some research and on webmd.com i discovered it may be tendinosis, which is not the same as tendonitis.

I have had pain in my hips before from ski racing so I concluded that it would be tendonosis over itis because of the following.

"Most tendon injuries are a slow-healing series of microtears (tendinosis) that weaken a tendon, often causing pain, stiffness, and loss of strength."

Microtears really sounded right. Anyway, I was wondering if this is possible, has anyone else had these problems, or am I just experiencing pain and being a puss?

Thanks here's the link to webmd

Well I had tendonitis in both hips, but I dont know if it was from shooting or not. It would just hurt like hell after went in for a while and made some hard cuts. If you're having problems/pains that are affecting your game though you should go to a doctor.

It could likely be your piraformis muscle. Alot of kids on my team including myself have injured this. If it hurts to run, and put pressure on your leg it could be this.

If this is the case all you can really do is try to stretch it out. A figure four stretch(almost like an indian style with only one leg up) can be very helpful. If the piraformis muscle gets overused then the tightness of the muscle causes compression of the the sciatic nerve, and makes you feel like an old man.

If you have a trainer then he can do whats called a piraformis release, its sort of painful but if you can get it to work it feels amazing after. Not to much to worry about, just some tightness and hobbling for a little while. Try and stay off your feet too.
