How can i get a good hold?

Alright i just strung my evo using oranges string help and i got a big pocket but the ball moves around alot and comes out real easy. My sidewalls are really tight and all and it was my first time stringing my own stick and i dont want to pay money for someone else on my team to do it. So how can i get a better hold?

tighten your shooters and put your pocket closer to them. do you have pics of your pocket?

what italian said and also if your using hard mesh the balls gonna move around A LOT until you break it in

Put a V or a U, right on top of where the ball rests.

usally weaved shooters give more hold then rolled ones

First of all, you might want to tie you shooting strings into you sidewall strings or through your sidewalls.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but i think if you were to redo the shooters and connect them to your sidewall strings and then tighten them you would get much more hold. That pocket looks good though other than that.

i think you did the sidewalls wrong, like you connected the sidewalls to the wrong part of the mesh. you should connect the mesh with like the very edge. (hope that made sense)

wow good call did even see that! Anyway to build off that if you use the little half diamond on the very edge that might deepen your pocket a good amount so it may become illegal, but I cant really tell where it stands now.

getting back to good hold, if you want the best hold id say
get a pinched head, use 10d soft mesh, get a deep(bareley legal) low pocket, used some rolled shooters 1 u right above where the balls its and 2 across,
the ball shouldnt fall out of that sucker, an attackman on my team did that and he rarley dropps the ball, unfortunatley for him, the new rule changes will effect his play

when stringing double sidewalls go under each diamond, in yours your going over the diamond, i dunno if there is really any difference but the correct and better looking way is going under the diamond i hope that makes sense, if not just look at almost any other pocket (other than interlocking, unless they doubled up there too) and see how the sidewalls go under the diamond instead of over.

soft mesh has the best hold along with 6D and 5D. also high pockets have a lot of hold, actually just strung one with 6D i'll PM you some pics later

Try putting three straight shooters across the top. This combination can give no hold or lots of hold. I suggest that you pull all of the shooters really tight but don't tie them. Then go outside and cradle around and maybe play a little wallball. When you feel that your pocket is perfect, then just tie the shooters off. One thing I will tell you though is that more hold= more whip, so you might want to get use to it before you use it in a game.

sweet thx..i pinched my head a bunch so it should be better now..i didnt think that it would work but i got the sickest pinch on the evo now and i just strung it and im doing the shooters now ill put a pic up l8r.. so tell me what you think when i do

yeah do this it works well...but if you do it it use a U not a V.

This is true but it depends how you cradle, if you cradle with they head more towards your hip, high pockets hold better, but if you cradle more vertically, a low pocket where the ball just sits at the bottom of the head holds better

but high pockets are better for fakes and whatnot
