Today I worked a series of 5/6 games with an official of my senority. A kid scores a goal in the first game and his momentum carried him into the crease just as I was whistling the goal.

The goalie's coach declared that the crease violation should negate the goal. I admitted freely that the kid violated the crease, but it was after the ball was in the goal, so it didn't matter.

My partner declared that he and a first year ref had studied the rulebook and determined beyond a shadow of a doubt that even if momentum carried a shooter into the crease after the goal was scored, and the shooter never left his feet or violated the Gait rule, the goal was no good.

Now I'm chewing bullets because I had left my rulebook on my desk. However, in the interest of calling a fair game, I consented to call the rest of the game(s) under those assumptions.

As soon as I got home, I grabbed my rulebook looking for support. Alas, I am unable to find any specific wording in the 2007 NFHS book that permits a player to enter the crease after his shot has entered the cage. The Gait rule is clearly laid out, and wording to the effect that 'no offensive player can go in the crease at any time' is there, so I can understand why someone just looking at rule 4-9-n and rule 4-20-2 can decide that post goal crease violations are prohibited and cost a goal.

Is there a rule I'm missing? Am I actually wrong?

You're not wrong.
the "Air Gait" rule says that if a player jumps or dives and lands in the crease under his own momentum (i.e. not assisted in by contact by the defense) that any goal scored by that player is negated, whether the ball is in the net before he lands or not.
However, a player that simply steps or runs into the crease AFTER the ball is in the goal has successfully scored, and the goal would not be removed for crease entry in this case.

Just that I understand it:
If a Player scores, the ref calls the goal and he steps in the crease while celebreting his goal, this dose not neglect the goal?

Once the ball crosses the goal line - the ball is dead. IMO - Anybody can stand in the crease during a dead ball.

I'm with LF25 on this one.

You are clearly correct.

For exact rule citations, NFHS rule 4-9 art 2.c. states that a goal is diallowed when an attacking player is in the crease when the ball passes the plane of the goal. The rule says nothing about disallowing a goal if the player lands in the crease afterwards, unless he dove or jumped (the air Gait rule).

Also, NFHS ruling 4.20 sit F states that if a player is legally pushed into the crease "no goal (providing contact inside the crease is prior to the ball going into the net).
