I am very excited that the NLL has announced they will be proceeding with the outdoor league plans. I know they are looking at possibly tweaking the rules to give the game more of an indoor feel. What changes would you like to see in NLL outdoor to give it more of an indoor feel. I want to see only 2 defense and attack and then 5 middies, so you would have fourteen moving players in the offensive zone

A 3 point arc would be cool. If you took a shot from midfield and scored, that is at least worth 3 points! Or the goalie on that shot gets minus three (-3) points and his team has to catch up...

No, here is an idea: get rid of any n-point arcs in all of field lacrosse.

VTLaxFan...How would adding 2 extra players make it seem more indoor....there's another thread on this somewhere in another bit of the forum...will try and dig it up

PS presonally think some of the rule changes are a bit daft

here it is Right here (http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=65975&page=1&highlight=NLL+outdoor)

I made this thread for rule changes, not about how the NLL-O would compete against the MLL. two more players would make everybody more crowded.

rule changes from field...like putting a rebound net behind the goal? RUBBISH

but yes more off ball defence would be ok, and smaller teams on a smaller pitch would work too

Make it 7 on 7, it's gotta be different to fly.

Make it 7 on 7, it's gotta be different to fly.

I run a HUGE 7v7 tournament here in the states. We use 6x6 goals but go 2a, 2m, 2d, 1g on the field. The fields are 70yds x 35yds and it is a VERY exciting game, BUT, it is NOT hard to score. The goalies would face a TON of shots very much like box in this version.

The 7v7 game takes alot of the defensive strategy out of the game as slides and help are obvious. The transition, because the clearing passes are shorter is unbelievable....

Just my opinion but I don't like it. The NLL Outdoor that is...........

Box and field are fine just the way they are. I see this as a cash grab and nothing more. Pure Field and Pure Box are both beautiful games. This abortion of a game that they are scurrying to put together (even if it retains the best elements of either) will never be true lacrosse. Just a co-mingling of players from either league. It screams commercialization, ratings points, professional wrestling, and pure unadulterated crud.

I see no great future or progression in the sport because of it. If they wanted to push true lacrosse to the next level, they wouldn't create this reality show version of it. I can't wait to hear the announcers talk about how they don't know how this is going to turn out. The game has been played for hundreds of years and now we're going to make a watered down version of it that everyone will like at least a little so they'll tune in. The name just keeps getting longer. Soon it will be NLL Outdoor Lacrossemania Show Sponsered By Pepsi. Sorry kids but this will be the video game that you have tried for so many years to have made.

No offense intended Dave...........I'd rather watch classic true lacrosse on Lax-TV with my computer than watch the NLL Outdoor on TV.

"It screams commercialization, ratings points, professional wrestling, and pure unadulterated crud." Hey, isn't this how the NLL got started? :naughty:

I think as well, that to much changes are not good.

Shot Clocks bounce walls and so on are rubish. Keep the game 10 vs. 10.
Only make the attack box 15 yrd. (on a 100 yrd field) and give fast staling warnings.

Let them cross-check. Make the game much more physical. Let players fight anything... the more violent the better. Hey, isnt that what we love about the NLL?

i agree, crosschecks should be legal, picks should be more box like, you know where your feet plant for a total of .0001 second, and you roll, no monopolization of equipment, more fast paced, i think there should be the same number of players, a shot clock of some sort, no point arcs, all in all, i feel it should be a free for all, with minor referee interference, i want something hard hitting and fast, just outdoors
