If I understand correctly, pick #1 goes to Bridgeport, who can't find their butt with both hands and a map. Rochester gets pick #2.

Here is how I would pick if I was GMing these squads and why. I invite arguments, I can't find enough cats to talk to lax about around here.

The Barrage have some solid attack players and some solid middies. Prager, Denihan, Springer and Cromwell are solid players. Also at middie, they have some experienced talent. Miller and Rotelli can ball. Nothing needs to be said about Colsey's abilities. Shanahan, in my opinion, is the best middie in the league. Where the Barrage suck bigtime is keeping the ball out of their net. Rob Doerr is good but spends too much time in the penalty box. Polanco has proven himself as a baller I think. Sweeney has made a good transition from LSM to D. But there is no guding hand, no pilot, of the ship that is the Barrage defense. That is why I think the Barrage must draft Tillman Johnson. He is the best goalie in the NCAA, some would argue the best player period. Matt Hunter did not do such a good job that I would consider him my franchise goalie. I think the Barrage pick Johnson and try to add another defender possibly.

That leaves the Rattlers in a position to make the pick everyone has talked about, Mike Powell. That only leaves the question: Should they take him? Rochester scored the most points in the league, 203. But they gave up the second most, 202. That seems to say "Pick up a solid d-man and take it to the house." But I think no, you have to take Powell. Taking Mike frees Rochester to move Casey to mid all the time which is probably a better fit for him. So put C. Powell, Doneger and Caseese/Mollott/Watkins on a line with Powell/Powell/Coffman. Plus you still have John Fay at attack. Mollet, Howley, and Abrams are good d-men and next year will be even better with MLL experience.

Where this gets weird is if the Barrage take M. Powell. Their defense still blows and their attack points are already higher than Baltimore's and Long Island's. Because then I think the Rattlers do NOT take Tillman. They have Carc, why would they?

That's what I got.

first i agree the Johnson should go to Bridgeport. however im not sold on Rochester taking Powell. That gives the Rattlers far to many attackmen. Let me throw in the fact that Grant is seriously considering comingback to the MLL i dont care who you stack him up agenst Grat will start if hes on teh team. So if Grant came back we would have R.Powell/Grant/Coffman/Shindler/Fay not to mention C.Powell. That is is a huge stockpile of Attackmen. Now if Grant dosent come back thats still 4-5 great Attackmen. Do we need another? no not really. Now i know Coffman played middie in college some, and he did in tha All-star game. If he could make the move to middie then i could maybe see the pick of M.Powell however i highly dubt that will happen. Even tho i dont think Rochester will pass up taking Mike if hes there fro them to pick.

In this kind of league (and at its stage in its development) most teams should not, and usualy do not pick players for there needs.
Also, next years draft is the most talked about and has the most star power then any other college draft ever. Neither of the teams NEED Mike Powell, because both teams have possible starters down to there fifth attack. The reason that I think Powell will go first to Bridgeport is because he is already better then all of there attack (excluding Denahan). Another reason to pick Powell first is that this league does not have free-agents like other leagues. The only way players move from team to team is by trades. Since Mike will be the best attackmen in the league in the future (and Tillman be the best goalie in the future for that matter) this is why I think they will go one and two in next years draft. For anyone that wants two look at the first round a little deeper I know for a fact that Boston has L.I. pick from a trade a few years ago.
