I was instructing a new official the other day and in explaining the 10 and 20 second count, I told him that if the ball is in possession between the boxes there is always a count going. Can anyone think of a scenario where there would not be a count going with ball in possession between the boxes? The only time I can think of is less than 20 or 10 seconds left in the quarter.

On a face off before possession has been declared.
That's it.

If you carefully read the question it already states "when the ball is in possession". I know it must be late for you 3PP and maybe after a "couple" glasses of merlot the words are getting fuzzy.

I can't think of anything besides what Aloha said. Is the goalie's four-second crease time also included in the twenty seconds?
