First, i searched for this and i didnt see anything that would be the same as this. Well, I am sort of new to lacrosse and I played wallball to get better stick skills which I have totally improved on. Now i have made first line middie within only 4 weeks of playing. My issue is that when I dont wear gloves, I can handle the stick fifty times better than I can with gloves on. With the gloves on, it's hard for me to swtich hands, one hand cradle, among other basic lacrosse moves. Yet, when I take them off during practice, (which i get yelled at for) I fly by my defender and do all the dodges no problem. I have the warrior mercury pro stars II 12''. I've heard things about the warrior hypnos being flexible and easier to handle. And I would think that these gloves are broken in, but it's really frustrating when i put them on i cant be creative with the ball. When i take them off, i can mostly do any move. Anyone ever had this problem, or have a solution?
.. I'll probably get critizised at for this, but maybe you should like tape it a bit if you need some grip? You mustn't take your gloves off either, as you should just get used to them, because there's a big chance you'll get injured if you're playing a game with more agressive defenders who won't hesitate to hit your (bare) hands.
So:
- Put some tape if you need grip
- Get used to your gloves :D
That's all I can think off, hope it helps =)
(I can see the "captain obvious" comments coming already, but whatever  )

to get grip you should go with some tape, like said above. But the most important thing is to practice with gloves on. It's the only way to get better, and taking your gloves off in a game or practice isn't gonna cut it (and I don't think your allowed to not wear gloves). I recommend wearing your gloves everywhere, when your at home watching tv, walking the dog, on the computer, and just whatever you do. Wear your gloves as looong as possible to really get used to them.

I wouldn't so much as wear them everywere, because like you say you'll get used to them, but not holding a lacrosse stick(plus, wouldn't it be hard to type with lax gloves on? :beard:) . Just whenever you go out for a catch in the yard or doing w/e with your lacrosse stick, make sure your gloves are on.
I have those gloves in a 13" and i love 'em. I would say after about 1 1/2 years of playing with them, they are extremely flexible, but of course they're the only ones I've used.

i ahve both the prostars and hypnos. prostars are much nicer in fit, grip, and protection. why downgrade?

i would tape your shaft and just practice with gloves on all the time, everybody has better control without gloves on

I ALWAYS wear my gloves when I play, wither in practice or just wallball or with. a friend. In games, my gloves feel just like having bare hands on my stick. So just practice with them on all the time.

its almost leaerning a whole different game with gloves on and gloves off i was the same way but you just have to wear them all the time. Off topic a wee bit but a running back was forced to sleep with the ball for many nights with the "eagle claw" (sounds kinds wierd but only way to describe it) and he rarely fumbeled again

I dont take my gloves off during a game cause that's just stupid, and against the rules I think. How long would any of you think it would take for these to get broken in?

well I have loved the Brine flight glove. They have a very skin tight feel to them. They are probaly the closest thing to not wearing any gloves. Def get some tape if you have trouble with grip and always practice with gloves on. I know when I just play wall ball I have the gloves on but when I take out my goal and get the balls out and shoot I put on all my gear. You want to practice as close to a game situation as possible.

Sounds like you should have had them on during all those wall ball sessions!!!

heck yes Hypnos are really good gloves and they are also very inexpensive if you know where to get them, ive played with some other gloves that had wide padding all over and i didnt like them, then i got 13in hypnos which have more narrow padding along the fingers and i had way more control.
anyways you must break any gloves in, wear them everytime you pick up your stick, I bend them and abuse them to break them in

To get used to gloves..NEVER touch your lacrosse stick unless your gloves are on your hands..that way youll get used to it..also..whenever your playing wallball make sure your gloves are on..I used to be the same way you are when I first started..I played wallball without gloves and I was used to the barehanded feeling and then once I put gloves on I was a spaz..just make sure that you never use your stick without your gloves on..thatll get you used to them

youyll be fine with them in a couple games and if your not then just bring your gloves home...play wall ball with them ON. and like just take your hands and mush them all around and step on em just break them in then goo back outside and play again..playing with them breaks them in and some gloves break in easier then others do.

first, thanks to all who replied. Its kinda funny, I couldn't one hand cradle a couple of days ago with these gloves, and today in our game, I could and I was mad good at it. I guess it just took time for them to break in, thanks again.
Ok man, I had this exact same problem. The thing is, you HAVE to wear gloves in lacrosse. you can cut the palms out when you go pro man. BUT, to solve my problem, i taped my entire stick. Kind of like a zebra. 2cm of tape, 2cm bare. It helped a lot. Also, during my games i spit on my gloves very often. Makes them grippy. No need for rain. And the tape i used was Franklin Baseball Bat Tape. Works great. So will a very small grain skateboard grip tape, or tennis racquet tape. Hope this helps, even though you're getting the hang of it.

if you do this, dont expect your gloves to last long. The palms will wear super fast
