i was just looking for some insight on what people thought of the rhinoskin shoulder pads.as weird as it sounds i have a fairly short neck with broad(sp?) shoulders so with my shoulder pad and helmet on it can be hard to move my head well. are they enough protection for highschool middie? most my slaps are my ribs and arms anyway. thanks for the in put

I play D and love the pair I have. I usually get checked with a hard slap at least a few times every game. The mobility is incredible. It's just like wearing a t-shirt. Since you said you have broad shoulders and that other thing, the shoulder caps are reposition-able and you can take them off completely. This could be one of the best pieces of equipment I have ever owned. Seriously. :worship:

i play d and some LSM and they are definatly the best mobility your going to get in a sp while maintaining any protection (that's aimed at the adams sp liner). and at the highschool lvl like you said most of the checks hit your hands, arms, or ribs, so with decent pads around those areas, sp's aren't really important, go for flex and get the rhinoskins!

This might be stupid, but does this make up for shoulder pads? like do you wear pads over them?

Nope. I mean I guess you can but you're not supposed to.

I really don't think so. I use mine for every practice and game. Plus with your jersey over them, the refs won't know or care.

i'm bringing back the thread. i finally got around to buying them. how snug are yours? i bought large but i wasnt sure if medium would be a better fit. i'm like 5'7" and 145. the package says 5'10" and above for large

Does anyone else have a problem with like over-heating when they wear these in hot weather or in like a hot gym during practice? I don't know if it's just me and my rhinoskin or if it's everyone and I'm not alone.

yes my teammate has that problem
but that would probably be because it would be two layers of shirts
so maybe taking the shoulders but cutting off the part around the stomach?
i dont know if that would help

I haven't really heard much about the protection, would these be sufficient for an attackman? I mean I can understand a pole wearing them for the same reason a lot of poles wear Adams' liners, but what about an attackman?

If you get this for attack, your just asking for bruises. I would check out some other, more protective pads (K18's, RBK 9k's, etc)

do they give enough protection for a high school middie? and yeah, whats up with the overheating?

Depend on what you call sufficient protection. I believe they offer perfect mobility with mediocre protection. They would be O.K for the h.s middie, but if you like knowing for sure you got protection where you need it get Warrior Hitman pads or Reebok 9k pads (have them perfect mobility if you take off slash guards and have really good protection). Overheating I heard from a friend who plays Defense is fabric is a little heavy so heat accumulates, but my friend thought that Torque and Excalibur were bad heads (i know preference but thats just insane of him [yes he's a goof])
