I have the new stx ti and it's a real nice shaft, smooth feel, nice grip, pretty light as far as titanium goes, but it's just cooooverd in dents, and i'm really not a maniac either. Never broken a stick (mine or oppontents) and i dont throw wild checks, but the sticks still covered. someone told me that all titaniums like that: it dents but will never break, is the shaft just defective?

everyone who has ti on my team has a dent covered shaft, so it's not defective

then what's so good about them? i have other d poles on my team with klytes, ignites, even an al6000 and none of them have many big dents, i got it because when i ordered it i thought i ordered the older verision which i know is an abosoloute tank

i have a scandium and kpro that have no dents. i've used the kpro for 4 seasons and have broken a ton of sticks(other kids) and a kids leg, but there is not a single dent
i also have a Brine Sc21 that doesn't have a dent and i've broken 2 sticks with that.
i'll trade you for yours if it comes with a receipt
let me know or check out my thread

The new STX Ti is very thin and dents fast, the thicker Titanium shafts I have seen have less dents/ no dents.

Dents are annoying Im gonna give you that. I think alloys are better. I personally love my STX Scandium. Anyone know how the Warrior Dolomite holds up? How bout that Brine Optra?

no, heads are only oz's heavy. you won't notice on a pole unless you get a db803 or a thin, light shaft like that

All metal shafts are alloys...

I know dents are annoying, but think of them as BATTLE SCARS.
As long as the Ti isn't bent your fine. Don't worry, our senior captain has been using his Titan Pro for a while and it has atleast 20 good dents, but its not bent at all, not even 1 degree.

ur shafts are gonna dent no matter what its made of, its lacrosse get used to it. if ur looking into a new d-pole check out some warrior gear.

i know they dent, but mines friggin torn up, to the point where it effects my playing, it's weird though, cuz then i look around me and everyone else is worried that they have one little ding up by the throat, and i'm like 'take a look at mine, then start complaining'

i find that titanium shafts get a lot of dents that are sortof like optical illusions... they appear to be there, but you cant really feel them. i have seen a few titanium shafts that do what you're talking about though, namely the Titan Pro and LevitaTion.

Next time get a Ti with maybe thicker walls. I personally have a STX sharkskin ti and has no dents just two dings. Many scratches though

I don't know what STX Ti shaft you're playing with, but I had one of the ones from like 5-6 years ago and it was a tank and the heaviest shaft I've ever picked up. Titanium dents, and bends, but it won't crack or explode like other shafts (1 of my high school defensemen broke every (krypto, krypto pro, krypto pro kevlar, f15, titan pro, db 803) shaft to the point that no company will warranty anything he buys anymore), the best he's used is a TI shaft. I've been playing w/ a Brine Ti Powergrip for 6 years now and the bottom is banana'd out from hitting the pipes (I play goalie), but it's still my game stick and has handled a mighty thrashing from a lot of attackmen. The only reason I'd get rid of some Ti is because it's got a nice bend in it, dents look cool and show your intensity of laying lumber on the field.

most kids i know with ti's dont have dents instead their shaft just bends like crazy

I was also looking at the Brine Ti22 pole, classic grip. How do these hold up? Also, is the dolomite worth the $$$

well i dont see the point in having titanium if it dents and bends, thats all i'm saying, it's not really worth the extra money for a smooth shaft, i'm sure that i could get my hands on a better shaft for less money too, so why titanium?

This is why the F15 was made.

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to you or not but either a mohawk TI or go with a harrow monster because harrow's wont dent at all, sure some of the grip might come off but they won't dent. They just snap when they're done. But the Monster is a beast of a shaft

Our goalie has had hid Titan Pro for about 4 years now. The thing doesn't have a dent yet the thing has a mad curve to the left.

so everyone that has titanium out there, if you return the shaft you have now for a full refund and buy a different shaft, would you? or would you stick with titanium?

i would stick to titanium its where its at mine cept for maybe my woodies but thats a whole nother story
i think yours might just be a touch defective my STX Ti's are beast but mine are both the older versions perhaps you should search for one of those either that or a mohawk Ti is your best bet

might wanna use periods... anyways i think TI's are overrated. I have a zirconium cut from a d pole and after several checks that i thought would have killed my stick, its still dent free.

solution to everyones problems about ti shafts bending and denting, yea you will have to man up, but you just put a woddie inside it. gaurenteed to never dent again.

i have one but it depends what kind you got. I lay lumber alot and mine is perfect so it depends what kind you have.

Titaniums are by far the most overrated shafts for their price. They are heavy and not durable...
I speak mostly of Warrior Ti.

i have a brine Ti22 and it doesnt really have many dents...but it is bent a little, which i do not like lol

04-30-2007, 09:47 PM
i think titaniums overrated too, and not just warrior, all titaniums in general, especially for their price. in that case what do you think is the best metal, underrated or not

finally people agree with me. my friends think im an idiot for thinking this.

What do you think the best overall stick type is then, like graphite, or if it's an alloy or metal, what kinda?

dude, the titanium is stronger than the al6000 so it has thinner sidewalls on the shaft. that is why it dents when the al6000 doesnt. and by the way,i had an al6000, and it has plenty of dents, the guys on your team must check like girls
LaxCheck101
05-01-2007, 11:07 PM
i know, and thats the point i'm making, theres no point in titanium being "the strongest metal" if it's sidewalls are going to be thin making it easy to dent. If it's so heavy that companies need to make it's sidewalls light enough for anyone to buy then i dont think it's worth the extra money
italianstalion
05-02-2007, 08:23 AM
this is why i got rid of my titan pro, the walls were paper thin, they were almost sharp. I would love an STX or Mohawk TI though.
gordo934
05-02-2007, 08:24 AM
Titanium is overrated because of the thin sidewalls but it still is beastly.... the easiest way to get a good strong shaft is to buy a 803 D-pole and cut it in half It has really thick sidewalls
GoBucks

Titanium is a soft metal, so it may dent more easily than non-titanium shafts. But since it's soft, it won't bend or break nearly as easily as a non-ti shaft. Shafts like the Klytes and DB803's don't dent as easily but they snap with much less force needed than titanium shafts.

My friend got a brand new 125$ STX Titanium and the first game he played a dpole 6000 alloy put a huge dent in it, bending it slightly. I decided from then on to never buy a titanium shaft.

Titanium is nice. The fact that they make it too thin to have any actual benefit is not nice. Get yourself an F15, MIL ti, or Fatboy.
