Alright, so my doctor keeps telling me i need to cut back on the amount of soda i drink cause its really bad for me. Anyway i ended up betting a friend that I could go 30 days without soda. I used to have at least 2 cans a day. Im on day 5 now. Have you guys made any bets like this?

I haven't made a bet like this, but I went between one and two years without drinking any just for the sake of not drinking any. It's not that tough. You can do it, and you'll be healthier too!

I m gonna tell you the truth, I'm a soda-holic. And when I say soda-holic I mean it, right now I drink 3 16 oz dr. peppers or mr. pibb everyday. I used to drink 4 of the the 32 oz ones but I gave that up. And some times I go diet coke or do only the 12oz ones. I am trying to slow it down a bit due to the fact of my weight problem at the moment. Cause of a medical problem(s) that I have (too long to explain, check out my anxiety mega thread for more info) I am cooped up at home 24/7 (I'm home schooled) and its hard to keep weight off while already being semi-overweight and drinking tons of sugar soda and being at home all the time. I would stop but because of the meds I'm on I get terrible and I mean terrible migraines, I have them about every other day, and when I m not having one I always have a normal headache. The caffeine and for some reason the sugar, help sooth my headaches and migraines (at least thats what my doctor says)
So for your bet that your on, I wouldn't last more than a day. It is a good idea, but I cant live without my meds and thus can't live without sugar caffeinated soda.
(sorry for the rambling, but just wanted to explain my soda drinking habits).

ya Ive been trying to go totally healthy for bike racing, I usually don't drink soda at all. I drink soda like I smoke(cigarettes) socially and rarely. I had one soda for the first time in several months yesterday. other than that I only drink diet teas like Snapple (ALOT) and water because of how high most sugar contents are. Once you get really into dieting you'll start going on specific diets. Like a tuna and sweet potato diet (ya laugh all you want it's healthier than what you eat I guarantee it)

Lent? Does Lent count? I've given up stuff like that for Lent, and its not too bad. The first few days are tough, but then its real easy. I'm not a big soda person either. Mostly becuase my mom always told me that soda sucks the calcium out of your bones. So I try to avoid drinking it too much.

I haven't had it in four years and I have absolutely no desire to have it anymore. It is so much useless sugar into your body. Stick with water.

Just drink diet. I've been brought up drinking diet soda, so it's no big deal to me. The thing with normal soda is that it's so sugary that it makes me thirstier than I was before. Just drink diet, it's way better for you.

I can honestly tell you 100% that my diet has been healthier then that for years. With out limiting myself, and without cutting anything "unhealthy" out of my diet.

holy crap... who hands 300 bucks over for just 2 days? i guess atleast 11 people would. but i would do that for 50 bucks alone. not eating doesnt bother me too much.

My dentist also told me to limit the amounts of soda I drink. Not only soda but also Gatorade. Both of my two back molers are almost completely decayed because of soda and Gatorade. Both of my molers are getting root canals this thursday because they are so decayed.

Diet is worse for you than regular. The Chemicals they put in it are extremely unhealthy, and some have been known to cause cancer. As for me, I was always overweight until 4 years ago when I stopped drinking soda. I went for 3 years without drinking any. Finally now I have been able to have one like once a week, usually less. It really isn't that good after you give it up for so long.

Everything causes cancer these days. Cancer from the sun, radiation, pizza, diet soda, and even the tapwater in California. Some things you can't avoid.

true. once you get over your personal hump its pretty easy. you forget about it quicker than you expect. i seemed to have grown out of my sweet tooth anyways. i'll take a glass of milk over a soda anyday. and i lost all desire for candy a long time ago

Bro, I'm with ya. I'm a mtn. dew fiend and have tried to quit caffiene a few times but didn't see a purpose. Now I'm training for d3 lax in the fall and need to drop some poundage, so I'm on day 5 of no regular soda. I've had a few diet sodas but haven't felt any necessity in that - it's more than it was cold and we were out of milk. Good luck!

You know that if you're just replacing the soda with milk. And if you cut the soda, to loose weight. Thats not helping, because you're just replacing the soda calories with milk calories.

That's not entirely true. Milk is better for you, and has less of the "Calories from Fat", which are the hard calories to lose. Also, what kind of milk are you drinking, since skim milk has almost no calories and fat in it, so if you compare that to soda, it's much healthier for you. Also, one of those health associations found that dairy products aid in weight loss. I haven't drank any soda since the lacrosse season started for my team in february. I've lost about 15 lbs, and I drink a lot of milk.

Silk, Soy milk or lactaid milk. You should be able to drink that.

Goalie18
05-01-2007, 07:16 PM
ive tried lactaid, soy milk, and other milk substitues and still get ver similar reactions as to actual milk. Its been that way since i was very little, so over time i just stopped drinking milk, which wasn't too smart, but i wasnt getting sick anymore
