So our school requires usto fill out a practice common app and write an essay for them to critique for us to use on the real one.
So basically Im wondering what people have written theirs on, like their topics? I found it hard to think of a topic
Right now I wrote about 150 words
On how I feel the great importance of truth of self and value my ability to reveal my true character in the things I say and do. But right now im just trying to think of a way to write about something that "happened" in my life. Any suggestions?
Also no one copy anything, no stealing topics or anything like that

the essay questions that colleges ask you are always so random; i can recall one being ' school administrators thought of having school in the summer...do you believe students should have school during summer or not? what are the advantages/disadvantages'

The question on the Harvard under-grad application was "What's the riskiest thing you have ever done?"
I sent it back blank

The title of my essay was "Surviving High school... Sober"
It was different than what most people would write, it was truthful, and it focused on what I did in high school in way of volunteering, projects, etc etc etc.
It worked.

Did you get accepted?
The question on the Harvard under-grad application was "What's the riskiest thing you have ever done?"
I sent it back blank That's a hard question. Chances are Harvard doesn't want to hear about the time you showed up to school rollin' on E, but they also don't want to hear about the time you decided to not take Spanish 4 and take AP Physics instead.

My 1st choice college essay was to talk about someone who has had a positive influence in your life. The other two schools were free response, so I just used the same one. I wrote about George W. Bush, was accepted at all 3 and received a personal note about my essay from the dean of admissions at H-SC. The main thing is to write about something you're passionate about, that's what is going to separate the great essays from the ones that they can tell are trying to kiss up to admissions.
Now with that said, pick your topic wisely. I probably wouldn't have written about my love for George Bush had I been applying to NYU.

Hah I like that line; always works better when you gauge your audience correctly, eh?
