please help, dont question my ability i can do it with no problems, i would just like to know what i asked above not how i should make it

This is probably the best forum for this, goalies forum is suited for field players

the cla rules is a max of 15" inside measurement at the sticks widest point. If the stick is not CLA approved you wouldn't be allowed to use it and could probably be tossed for illegal equipment in a senior game.
now if you can make a plastic stick 15" wide and can get it approved you could probably get rich.

If they can bend and shape the wood to make goalie sticks ... why couldn't the same be done with plastic? It'd have to be a lot lighter than wood, the handle could even be shaped for the best grip.

I'm not questioning your ability to do it, I'm just curious as to how you plan on doing it.

ok well i dont have the equipment and time to steam bend one like a mohawk or patterson, so i am planning on laminating one, (basically bend thin strips of wood and gluing them togeather when they are bent and the glue holds the shape, the glue is as stong as the wood) oh and im have a pocket idea that will be in the lounge when im done.

I would use ash if you plan on trying to make one yourself. I'm pretty sure all lacrosse sticks are made of hickory but ash is just as lightweight and strong i think, maybe slightly weaker. I'm just saying this because I have no idea where it would be possible to find hickory to laminate together. If possible to do this I would try to find someone who has one and is willing to allow you to make a jig using their's. I think if you put enough time into this it may end up looking really good.(Your going to need about a million clamps to glue that puppy up when its done.

its the leuges and it is soo old it has lost shape and needs to be restrung, and change of plans, i will be steam bending it because i cant have it bend the way i want it to (custom fitted for my stance)so im going to steam bend using ash (thats what i planned on using from the beginning) and im going to use friends mohawk to design my jig but with a few minor variations hoping to have it done by next thursday (home opener) and i found out from different sources that i can get 2 minutes and a game for an illeage stick but i dont think ill get caught because there will be no way to tell if it is illeage and it can be a max of 15 inches wide
so ill post this when im done making it, (may even do a tutorial if i have time)

Sticks are a whole different matter from protective goalie equipment in this matter. For all players (including goalies), if a player or goalie is caught with an illegal stick, he/she is given a 2 minute penalty and that stick stays in the penalty box for the rest of the game.
On a sidenote, I wouldn't mind trying out your experimental sticks once they are bent. I'll do the stringing myself.

ok well ill have to see how mine goes and how it works out and if it can stand up to games and stuff.
and if it works out and it is a fun project to do i will deffenitly consider getting approved by the cla and start selling them i have a few tweaks to my design that ill share. as the sticks get older and they lose the shape and become less bent, ever realize how it leave a big huge triangle open beside your left leg? well i have fixed that by adding an extra 8 inches to my drawing to counter act that. im away this weekend so i cant work on it, and with my change of plans (im actually going to steam bend instead of laminate) i have to now make a steamer. so i dont know if it will be done by the end of next week but hopefully dont by the end of the week after
and yeah i still do play for the mavs (cant get a release) but next year i plan for oakville or in missuagua where my older brother plays

When i tryed making a player one, we used just a woden box over the stove with a kettle of boiling water. It didnt work becaue the pieces we used was only 5 feet and we couldnt bend it far enough.
add me/ unblock me if you need anyhelp or if you do indeed want to sell them.

Speaking of CLA approval, according to the CLA Operations Manual:
22.9.1In order to receive CLA approval for balls and equipment, manufacturers MUST prove they carry AT LEAST $1,000,000 (1 Million) worth of liability insurance. This proof is required annually and must be submitted by the Annual Equipment Review Committee Meeting held in February. Failure to meet this deadline will result in a loss of CLA approval for a period of time as determined by the Equipment Review Committee.

Go to a manufacturer like Maverik or someone and tell them you want to produce wooden sticks under their name.

I like your thinking on the 15" wide plastic goalie stick. However, logistics can get in the way. Unfortunately, manufacturers aren't willing to fork out a minimum of $100,000 to make a mould of a goalie head that big. There would have to be at least 30,000 (rough estimate) or more heads from that same mould that would have to be sold just to recover costs.

ok well my plans have once again changed. after reading more on the subject at hand i have realized that i have to get the wood in a certain condition, i have to dry it acertain way and all that nonsence. i still plan on making my own, but it will take a bout 6+ months to make it, so what i have done is bought an old patterson ( i prefere it over mohawks, personal preference) and i am going to re finish it, it is trying with a coat of poly urathane right now, hoping to have it strung by tonight, i will post pics sometime next week of my specail pocket

I'm waiting until debeer release their new plastic box goalie stick. It's very light and completely covers the 5 hole :)
Lots of other really cool stuff will be coming out very soon from DeBeer.

Gaits new goalie equipment isnt legal yet, I wouldnt wait on DeBeers new goalie stick, as it will probably suffer the same fate.

From what i have seen in stores, their chest protectors are legal. The shin pads don't have the tags on them at this point.

players use wooden sticks, mostly defenders. I watched awkwasasne play clarington today and 2 guys on the lightning had wodd sticks.

Players can use them, LGK is correct on that.
They aren't as good as plastic for a forward however.

my mistake then, but out here in BC i don't even think you're allowed to use wooden shafts, but wooden sticks are definitely not allowed for players.

Hell must have just frozen over. I just read that you can't use a lacrosse stick. The one true lacrosse stick. The one that is hand crafted specifically for the game and prepared for months to create. Not the air blown, injection molded, screwed together, easily broken and therefore often replaced counterpart. Sounds like big business is writing the rule book.
That's just sad. With all of the advances in equipment design you'd think that they could create a pad that could stop a strike from an implement that has been used in a game for hundreds of years.
That is why I'd much rather watch Canadian Senior Lacrosse than the NLL. Big business hasn't taken it over yet. MSL and WLA allow players that have honed their skills for decades to use wooden sticks. That is the equivalent of the NHL saying that none of their players can use wooden sticks. While most of them choose to use the disposable alternative, players are allowed the option of using a real stick.

Its plastic and the same size as a woody, but without the weight. They've just got to get it throwing properly:)
If it was strung right, Scotland would've been using it in the worlds as you don't need CLA approval under the NLL rulebook
Should be ready by the end of the canadian summer.
