For the '07 season in Alberta did the minimum fighting suspension get changed to 2 games? I shoulda gone to the ref clinic...
Anyone know? I got a minimum suspension but my coach assumes its 1 game, and I've heard its 2 now.
Clarification guys?

Theyve gone stupid everywhere. In manitoba our jr. league kind of folded but was saved by the minor association so now its like we play with jr rules but like minor disciplines for stuff that was normally like whatever. Like we get suspended 1 game for a fight and 2 if its in the last 10 minutes of the game. And like a major penalty is automatically a game ejection which is a total crock but w/e i guess its better than nothing.

Some kid on our teams dad is a ref, a terrible one but he thinks its 2 games so I want clarification

Why would a ref know how long suspensions are? Give your local commissioner a call, he should know the answer. If this was an "event" from a recent game I'd assume you would hear from it in a couple days.

im not exactly sure about this, but i think here in ontario your only gone for the rest of the game, and the next one if its in the third period

There is a minimum suspension...
A gross is 3 games or more its in the rules.
So refs know the minimums

No where in the rulebook does it say the suspension limits. They're all determined by the commissioner of your league. They review the events and assess the situation and to what the appropriate punishment would be. One of the most important things they tell you at the reffing clinic is that you, the ref, have no jurisdictions on how long the suspensions are.

IF YOU GET A GROSS MISCONDUCT THERE IS A MINIMUM OF 3 GAME SUSPENSION IN ALBERTA LACROSSE.
There is a rule that says that sir.
Refs do not determine suspensions... I never said that. I ref hockey only now, and you cannot say he is suspended for 1 game. However if a player gets a gross misconduct... you simply say, 3 games or more talk to the league about that.
There is a rule for fighting which is similar to the gross rule. I would like to know if it changed. Last year is was 1 game or more, someone said it was 2 games or more now.
Fighting is 1st fight - xgames or more, x being 1 last year. 2nd fight, suspended till board hearing. 3rd indefinite.
I will restate, I said at no time the ref decides the suspensions. I did state however there are minimum suspensions in the rules.
