View Full Version : 17 D closed sidewall? HELP!

I tried to string my BN Nemi with 17D, but didnt have enough sidewall for open. i used interlocking sidewalls, and doubled up, but still no channel. Any help?

the mesh needs pounded, a lot. also maybe try a different throat string, i will try to find pics of one that makes a decent channel. the easiest thing to do is jsut go get some more sidewall buddy, 17d is almost impossible to close.

Yea always go open for 17d. That thing is a tennis racket.

heyy...i have the same stick but i got it like that from school. what can i do to break it in better...restring?? or maybe just part of it....
ive tried any other methods (water, shaving cream, using it!!, hitting it...blabla)

stretch the mesh out a lot and then try it. your probably not going to get the greatest channel, but i strung one that was alright, just double up near the middle and tripple near the bottom and it should turn out ok

I used closed sidewall 17 diamond all last season. If you use the entire piece of mesh, tripling up on the last 2-3 holes, you get an amazing pocket. No rebounds, great passes.

just restrung..... now i need to figure out if i should keep this, or make a glove pocket? your thoughts?

ya i no, but i could get it from jima in like 3 days, and this is my backup,so no prob

I would restring, that's a pretty ugly channel, or lack thereof.

If you're gonna order from Jima, just get a spool of sidewall. The advantages, especially in pocket depth, are great with open sidewalls. If you're really looking to do closed sidewalls though, go for something more like 12, or 14d. Otherwise, I suggest buy some sidewall and do it open.
