Does anyone have any recommendations for the high school to college transition of lacrosse??
Because it is at such a different game in college. I'm only going to play at a middle end D3 school but they're still a lot better than me. I mean I know that once you play people who are at a higher level, you'll get better just by pushing yourself. But I still want to be prepared this summer.
I'm planning on going to the U of MD camp and I'm going to try to run and play wall ball every day.
But does anyone else have any adivce for preparing yourself?
I just dont want to be like the worst person on the team next year.

Things to remember: If you got recruited, it's because the coach believes you have what it takes to succeed and contribute on that team. That doesn't mean slack off, and it doesn't mean panic either. All I'm suggesting is be confident, you're there because you belong there!

If you're given a workout program, follow it. Running, lifting whatever follow it. Add to it also. Wallball, practice situations. Get some friends and play around.

Mentally prepare yourself. A lot of college players go from one of the best on their team to just another number on the roster. Be realistic. Are you going to start? Are you going to play your first year? Set a high, but reasonable goal and work for it.

Don't slack off this last stretch of high school. The hardest transition from high school to college is time management. If you don't go into school on the right academic pace, the next semester will be a tough academic one.

The college game is a different (and much faster!) one. Give yourself time to adjust to it. Don't get frustrated if things don't click immediately for you.

Make sure you run. You can learn a lot of new things in college but if you don't have the energy then it's worth nothing. Run and run a lot. Make sure you do some sprints too because you also want to get faster.

1. the game is a lot faster
2. everyone there came from being the best player on their team in high school...they're all good.
3. don't mess up...ie: being late, not showing up, skipping lifting exercises, drinking when you're not supposed to...the coaches are a lot more strict. just be disciplined.
4. you'll learn A LOT. be ready to be perceptive. it's awesome
5. You practice and train A LOT...for me the best thing ever was getting to play so much lacrosse. be careful with academics....but be prepared to play lots of lax and be happy!

gooooood luck....if you are determined and love lax...you wont have any problems

Everything above is what I would go with. But just to highlight, dont get upset or angery because you are not a starter you first year, you may be, but if your not dont give up right away.

What D3 school are you going to be playing at?
