Ball Stops

A few days ago at practice my friend told me that some refs call something for not using a ball stop. So when i restrung my head (original stx proton) i strung it with brine hard mesh and put a ball stop on it. At the next practice my friend was talking to my coach and they were saying that some refs will call it if the company was different from the ball stop on and the head. I bought the head new and unstrung without a ball stop at comlax. What should i do if a ref calls me for it?

If this happens, have your coach call for a Rule 7-13 coaches challenge. They did have a rule about not having a ball stop from a different manufacturer in last year's book, but they repealed it even before last season began. This year, a ball stop from a different company is explicitly legal.
