Hey all

I've been looking at getting a rock-it pocket, I've heard nothing but good things about it, aside from the fact that they are high maintenance. I'm still on the fence though, because of the weight.

I use a Harrow Howitzer shaft, which is light, but, I use a Bionic head, which is heavy. If I were to get a classic Rock-it Pocket on my Bionic head, would that be too heavy?

Any help/input about this would be much appreciated :) Also, if anyone has any comments about their Rock-it Pocket, that would also be much appreciated to be heard :D

it's all preferance. and yes the howi is light, but it's got a funky shape to it which u either love or hate... and you can get a classic rocket pocket on rock-itpocket.com

Welcome to The Lacrosse Forums. The people at Rock-it Pocket have the most detailed descriptions and advice on Rock-it Pockets that you will ever find. Additionally, they are honest in what they say especially with reviews on heads. I would look at what they say about the Bionic with their pocket style and go from there.

As for the pocket being "heavy," well, pockets weigh next-to-nothing and I would never say that a pocket adds weight to a head, at least none that a lacrosse player could feel.

The Howitzer isn't too light, compared to other shafts. It also is no Fatboy, but whatever. The weight difference between a RP and mesh is less than 50 grams. If you like how it is now, and you think you could adjust to it a tiny bit more..and have $50..then go for it.

the only difference you will feel is when you have your gloves off, and trying to decypher a difference.

Well, I had a Helix/RP on a Howitzer. It was probably the best balanced combo I ever used, until I broke the Howitzer in my first practise with it. Now, I'm back to my Helix/RP on a Mohawk Ti because I can't get any other shaft that'll handle all my slashes (except maybe a Harrow Box).

do yourself a favor. unless you are a advanced stringer stick with regular mesh
the RP takes time, effort and alot of tweaking to get it down right. save 50$ and yourself some trouble. if you are absolutly bent on having a cool pocket try a pita or a torpedo. those will both do you fine and wont break the bank or cause a mental melt down when they arent throwing right. also they are alot "lighter" than the RP

as for the howi...great stick it should last you

But really, thanks for the input guys, helped alot :)

Well, have you ever heard of a place called Jimalax?

Probably the highest quality, cheapest, and most customer friendly place you're going to find for all your stringing needs.

Check them out before you buy a RP. www.Jimalax.com

Why spend money on a Rock-It Pocket if you can use mesh which is reliable and cheap costing. Also if your worried about weight I would not suggest the Rock-it Pocket, but you could also just not have noodle arms and become a man which most do now a days.

I beg to differ. Putting an RP on a relatively light pole, even with a light head, will make it very top heavy. There is a noticeable difference between an RP and mesh, especially with a lighter head. However, if you're already playing with a Bionic, weight can't matter very much to you.

if you cant handle playing with like 50 extra grams in your stick then dont play lacrosse its as simple as that. If you can get slashed and hacked at all game then you should be able to hand the tiny bit of extra weight.

Lets perpetuate teh stereotype that anyone who doesn't like a heavy stick is a noodle arm and shouldn't even play lacrosse...

Light sticks, especially for poles, are far superior in performance than their heavy counterparts. That includes the heads, one of the largest factors in how heavy a shaft feels as opposed to its true weight.
