O.K. guy's, give me your opinions on these heads. My son has a game tomorrow night and he needs a new head asap. The only heads available within a few hours drive are these. GAIT phantom $95, WARRIOR revo $119 , BRINE answer $109, or nitrous $129. Thanks for your input!

Yeah, were stuck between a rock and a hard place needing one quick. It would take three weeks to get one shipped without loosing a limb through ups. The prices are tax in and in cdn dollars or about 25 % more than u.s funds.

those prices would still be high though, i think your best bet would be to find one online and order it and see if your son can borrow a teammates backup untill he gets it

Ok, prices aside which are the best (if any) of this group? Thanks again!

the phantom, this thread is pretty much an example of why american field players should not post here.

Phantom if hes younger

Nitrous if older.

Im with LGK, Americans do not understand our market, those prices are fair.

I would have to say the Revo Pro is a good bet its more of a defence type head and it's very durable.

A little late, but whatever. If he is 12 and a fairly new player, you can get an Intrepid pretty cheap - even at Canadian Tire. I am an advocate of those American Field coaches that basically say a kid is better off learning to pass and catch with a good basic head than anything that is more hype than it is worth.

Well if those prices are supposedly fair in Canada, I highly suggest you guys order from American companies. Considering the exchange rate, which is not very high right now for us Americans, you can get Answers and all those other heads for MUCH cheaper. Unless you can explain your strange marketing, strange meaning compared to us not a diss, please do I'd like to learn.

He's been playing since he was 4 and has excellent ball handling skills. I do agree with you though on some of the cheaper models though. The $39 gait has a nice pocket right out of the store. Time to step up (birthday).

Simple economics of supply and demand as well as the concept of exclusive distributorships. Canada is a fairly small market compared to the US therefore less demand means lower volumes and less competition = higher prices. Exclusive distribution adds to the cost as there is now an(other) middleman in the picture taking their slice of profit. You also add in 14-15% tax plus duties.

In short, with the exchange rate at ~15% (ie $1 Cdn = $0.85US) and shipping, plus taxes and duties at the border, the prices are actually pretty close, and in many cases not worth the extra for the wait (min 2 weeks).

yeah that blows I was in a canadian lax store a week ago and it was sick you guys pay about twice as much as i do for my stuff but i get a 15% discount on all purchases (over $70, i think its $70 mabye $75 or mabye less not %100 sure but its around there). I bring equipment over to my canadian buddies because it saves them a fortune plus i dont pay duties because i just say the stuff is mine if they ask which they never have and theres nothing they can do cuz im from the states. if you live near fort erie or are willing to drive there and want to buy equipment really cheep send me a PM and i'll be happy to hook you up as long as your willing to drive over to ridgeway to pick it up and mabye buy me a x-large TT from timmies.

I really suggest the revo.

Its pretty beastly, pinches real nice, and has a great scoop for hard floors.

Although I play field, so I may have no clue what I'm talking about.

No, it still is alot cheaper. I just bought a strung Torwue on a Howitzer for the equivalennt of $215 CAD. In Canada, the unstrung Torque is $115 and the Howie is $175.

Do you not understand...

For him to have gotten it by the next day, which has passed. He would have needed OVERNIGHT INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. That would cost more than the head itself.

i was just letting anyone know i'd help them out, i knew it was too late to help that roofdaddy guy but people were complaining about your canadian prices so i figured id offer to save them a bunch of money on gear to be a nice guy.

p.s. sorry for acidently jacking your thread roofdaddy.

You dont get it.

If I was to order, a Clutch from the states...heres what would happen.

Initial price 109 USD

exchange rate figured in: 128

+shipping 148. waiting 2 weeks, when I coulda got one at A sports store for 138 quicker...

boxpimp66
05-20-2007, 07:47 PM
i dont think you get what i was saying, i was offering to buy stuff from a store in my area in the states and bring it back to canada with me. and i can buy a clutch for about $75 USD so about $85 canadian w/no shipping. so you woulda saved about $50 on just a head not to mention the money you would save on shafts and protective gear if you were buying lots of stuff. im not shipping anything, im bringing it with me into canada when i come across the peace bridge which is about 3-4 times a week. so if you live near the peace bridge then i can help you out and save you lots of money on gear because i'm a nice guy and hate to see people pay $138 for somethin when i can give it to them for about $85
