When i see college and very good varsity goalies lazer it up the field very accuratly, it makes me wonder how to do it. Anyone have any suggestions on the way they throw it or what i should work in my arms or body so i can get that lazer pass? One of my main weaknesses is passing upfield and the hospital ive thrown and i just need some good suggestions thnx

Remember to turn your body sideways to make the throw, put your lead foot forward, and really rotate the stick hard as you throw using forearms and wrists. Also check your stringing job to make sure that you can get a good release out of the mesh - that can make a big difference in trajectory and speed of your throw.

Upwards, sideways has no accuracy with goalie sticks or even with short sticks. You plainly just need to know how much strength and what angle to throw it to get a perfect clear. Just keep practicing long distance throws with a buddy. Don't underestimate the throw always throw it a tad farther because your middie will run faster when they see the clear and if they don't get it , it rolls to the other side of the field.

Repetition is the key here. In practice, ask your coach if you can work on some breakout passes.
Who says that you always have to clear it upfield? Look for a quick dumpoff pass on a save to a middie, or just give a pass to one of your d-poles.
On long passes, I throw overhand because it gives you better accuracy. I have found that the quality that the stick is strung is key for long passes. I have found that the less whip it has, the easier it is the throw long and accurate.

In the last tournament my team had I was pretty much having the same problem: clearing the ball to cutting middies upfield. So at practice yesterday, my coach recognized my problem: I wasn't following through. He said that like in basketball when you follow your hand through to the shot, you have to do the same for lacrosse but instead of your hand you use your stick. So after my coach told me this, he got half the team lined up at the alley on my restraining box and the other half at midfield at the opposite side of the field while I was in the goal. I would yell "CLEAR!", throw a hard fake at the midfield line and then sneak out the side of the crease and throw the ball as hard as I could at the guy cutting upfield from the alley. My coach told me I should throw it as hard as I can (about 55-60 mph) and if it's in the guys stick area he should catch it. Not only does this drill improve your clearing ability it helps with the team's stick skills and conditioning. I recommend this drill highly, it is perfect for any team of any skill level and will significantly improve the team's stick skills.

Take a half hour out of your day 3 times a week and practice shooting with a short stick. If you can hit a corner at 12 yards full speed, you can hit a middie upfield.
You can use the good old wall too, but it's not as fun as shooting.
Ofcourse there is a difference in a field stick and a goalie stick, but the principle of being an accurate shooter/passer is the same. It works, trust me.

y not use ur goalie stick for this instead of a midfield stick. at least then you can get used to the way your goalie stick throws.

but in order to get it in the trash can dont you have to lob it... or do you just aim to hit the very top of the can?

well you can lob it but you can also do frozen ropes into it...or just hit the can...... also you should set up the cans at the cornoers of the field rather than in the middle......
