yea he does...
oh well...
IMO no offence to anyone, but box looks dumb, yea its more hitting and all blah blah blah, but just doesn't seem fun--ive never played it so i don't know, and im not going to because i have more fun running and actually having a challenge trying to save the ball instead of wearing 50 pounds of padding in a 4x4 net. IMO it seems like there is no strategy or plays, since its so compact you jog hit they guy before he shoots thats seems like all there is to it, besides theres no long poles.
THATS JUST IMO

yea for serious.
as a goalie it's so much easier to play box, don't even argue. i did it at an indoor arena and i got sick of all the huge pads so i put on my regular field gear lol
it was too easy playing box.......no offense

nice way to totally bash this poll guys did you guys know that the ball speeds up in box when you shoot it at the turf? maybe you should try helping the man out instead of making him feel like a total freak who plays box instead of field, but i like the boddam more than anything i have ever played with

i love how 90% of americans think field is harder then box. face it box is 100 times better then field( although personal i enjoy playing field more so then box, but watching field is too boring), We proved this in london and will do it again in 3 years. Theres way more strategy in box then field and you have be so much smarter to excel at box then you do to excel in field.

Nobody was arguing. He asked a question about box gear, don't be a tool.

I've seen the brown leg pads, and played against a goalie wearing them, they aren't that bad, look very protective but stiff
And to you field goalies who've never played a game of box in your life...
Don't bother posting in these threads saying stuff like "box is way to easy" and "goalie in box has to be the easiest position ever". Just don't. I f you've ever seen a good box lacrosse game, the score can get just as high as in field. Our position is not at all easy, it takes a different set of skills than it does in field lacrosse. So don't act like you are superior to us because we need to use big gear to do our job.

jk no, but doesn't the ball go the same speed as in field too?

depends what calibur of box you play
in say, midget A the shots are going 80-100+ mph
but in midget house, they'd be comming 60-80+ mph
shots come from alot closer too though, so they have a bit more mustard on them when they hit you

On my high school team almost everyone can shoot over 80 and I have not broken my legs yet. And I don't think the shots are from farther away unless you are playing a bad team that just shoots from outside.

how many shots have you tryed to stop using your legs?

Yeah you definetly need more padding in box. I cant stand box lacrosse just because the Goalies wear huge pads and protect a smaller net than field, but the shots do come a lot closer because the field is smaller.

Shots are always closer in box. Have you ever seen an indoor game? There's not much room to take outside shots. Since the playing area is smaller, a goalie will see more shots a game too, and since the net is smaller, they're more likely to be hit in the legs, since the open space isn't there. So, more shots from a closer range more likely to hit you? I think box goalies have every right to bulk up.

The players shoot way closer than a player in field does.

go with the boddams. they are bigger, and i think they work really well with a wooden stick. rebels are good too, which is what i use.

I like how half of this thread is helpful information and the other half is the good ol' field vs. box argument.
Sorry for being offtopic though, I don't play goalie or box, so I can't help you.
