Thats nasty, you can get infection from any sort of cuts. I had a bad experience with infections so after everygame if I have cuts on my knees (im a goalie), I just go to the medkit and pour some iodine on it just to kill off any unneeded bacteria.

You should definitely add that cleaning alcohol, I forget what the name of it is tough. Clean it just to be sure. Don't want unnecessary amputations now do we?

You mean hydrogen peroxide.

Hydrogen peroxide is fun, especially when it bubbles.

I paid for this one dive shot I took in a game. I scored, but obviously landed hard on the ground. When I lifted my shirt up in the car, I had this bright red burn like nothing I'd ever seen. You really need to take care of big wounds like that, because they get gross. This thing was red as an apple, and then I had to clean it and bandage it. Caused me a lot of pain for around a week or so. Easily could've gotten infected if I didn't clean it up every day. One time I had the bandage get stuck on it and I had to run it under water for 5 minutes to get it off.

And now I have a scar forever. Not cool.

What kind of turf was it? If it was field turf with the rubber filler you better clean that out quick. I sliced my knee open on a stick in a game and got a bunch of rubber stuff in it. I thought i got it all out and like after a week the cut was all infected and really sore. So being the smart person i am i cut the scab off with my butterfly knife (not joking either) and i poured hydrogen peroxide on it. It bubbled for like 2 mins then i took the dull side of the knife and brushed all the puss aside and saw that there were like 5 little rubber pellets still inside. The were all coated in white stuff and then i bandaged it up and it cleared up in like 5 days. Long story short make sure u get all those little black pellets from the turf out of cuts.

Ok, lowroll, usaully when you get a cut in a game, when you sub out or have time, you poor water on it to get, dirt, black things, and rocks out of the cut. So, you should probably do that from now on!!!

its called mrsa or staff infection i believe unless im thinking of something else. Its caused by pesticides in the grass. My old school had it going around and my friend tried to get out of class by saying he had mrsa on his hand then the teacher had him show her his hand and he wrote "MRSA" on it lol

Apparently Staph infections are pretty serious stuff. My brother got one a while back and the Doc said they are extremely contagious and more serious ones can kill you. :OMG:

you get it from getting like cuts on the field and not cleaning them out and like if you dont wash your shin guards in soccer or stuff like that. Basically if you have gear that touches the ground a lot, wash it every now and then. Also if you get cut wash it out right away and try to cover it up.

my friend got staph infection from playing on the wachovia center turf after a wings game. He had to go to the hospital and all. You get like red lines coming out of the cut, i guess it looks nasty. just try to keep it clean and bandaged and if you see the red lines contact an adult immeadiately

Why does everyone ask for medical advice on here? Go to a doctor.

I bolded that for a reason. No one here is qualified to give you sound medical advice. If you have any concerns over a possible infection you need to contact your doctor, not the members of TLF.
