ok so i've strung, restrung, deepened, loosened, and really worked my stick beautifully...its exactly how i like it except for one thing...the rebound sucks. In a game i played against westminster, 4 goals were scored off of rebounded saves...u can imagine how happy i was. I dont wanna use fabric softener or mess w/ my stringing any cuz it took me 2 months to get it there...any one got any advice?

well... maybe just play wall ball? i mean, if i were you, i would trash the mesh, but maybe you just need to play with it for awhile. im not sure, maybe you just had a bad day, i get rebounds occasionally too so its not taht big of a deal

First off, the head, and shaft have nothing to do with rebound.

Second, the biggest reason for rebound, is not having soft hands. now if you're using a tennis racket pocket, then there's an exception, but if you took all that time to stretch, loosen, and pound that pocket to the depth where you want it, then acquiring softer hands is something you're going to have to work on. play wallball. it'll come with time.

most college goalies and alot of goalies i know and myself pop the ball in the air so you can easily get the rebound urself and it doesnt have to do with the mesh at all just on ur position when making the save

so thats why the ball always goes in the air... never knew that! i should try that!

Bounce the ball up when saving, but you can't really do anything about ground rebounds...

And yeah lacrosse4life, thats why they do it, if the other team attempts to snatch it from the goalie when its in the air, its goalie interference.

believe me, even with the softest of mesh you will have rebound problems if you dont have soft hands. if tried this out before in an experiment...i put 17d hard open sidewall in 1 nemmy and open sidewall 17d soft in another nemmy and tested them out. i got the same shots and reacted the same way and both the meshes performed the same. rebound is really determined by not having soft hands and giving a bit on the ball when it enters the stick.

i do that as wel and it does help. popping it up or back is what i do. its hard to explain how i can pop it back but i do that so i can go behind and get it to make the clear easier. it actually does help in many instances.

well i can pop em up ok...about 70% of the time its jus that i get really preoccupied with"BALL!" and i just kinda let reflexes kick in i dont really think about it. I mean when we played y'all one of those 2 y'all scored was off a rebound

where'd you get that idea from? if they check your stick it is, but if they snatch it out of the air, its no penalty

My advice on geetting rebounds u can't reach is just keep your eyes on the ball and be ready to make the second save. and like everyone else on this thread has said KEEP SOFT HANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't it goalie interference? When the offense goes to snatch the ball (maybe only a 1 or 2 inch pop) it will look like they are trying to check stick/accidentally hit stick and the refs will call a goalie interference. At least thats what some of the refs in my area call.

there is a modification to the rule where if the ball is popped up and the goalie is going to get it, like the goalies head is hovering right around and about to wrap around and catch with control, and the offensive player(s) check the stick of the goalie then it can be called an interference. its a pretty open rule with a basis of checking the goalies stick when he/she is inside the crease, inside the 4 seconds, and has control of the ball in their stick.
