Am I the only one that is OUTRAGED! OUTRAGED!!! by the MTV VMA political undertones?
now we all know that MTV is uber liberal but come on.. MTV is taking too much of an advantage on their appeal to the ever so crucial swing voting teenagers.
Gripe #1: Bringing the Kerry daughters out on stage and have them plug for their dad? :clap O yeah! good one. I'm sure it was only a coincidence that the Kerry daughters were able to be onstage but the Bush daughters were o so conveniently not in attendance and were via satellite? And all the cameras focusing on all the people voting for Kerry? :bs
Gripe #2: John Stewart. Now before I start, I'm a fan of his show but it is not to be taken seriously, but some people are too dumb to realize that and so here's what happens: swing voters see john stewart on mtv, "hey, he's a funny guy! I think I'll watch his show" before you know it they're taking his bush bashing and fake news seriously and voting for kerry.
Gripe #3: This one has nothing to do with the VMA's but MTV in general. Anybody notice how they vehemently and meticulously plastered MTV news specials with coverage of the Democratic National Convention? No mention of the RNC so far... hm I wonder why :agree
Gripe #4: And I guess that all of this is just a coincidence that the VMA's are taking place in Florida this year? Florida, the swing state which was taken narrowly by the Republicans in '00. so a bunch of 18+ year olds show up to the VMA's wanting to see some stars but yet they get showered with Democrat biasness.
If any of you really tune into MTV for news and whatnot, contact your local therapist immediately.
MTV = :bs

Media? Liberal? No way. This is America, home of the un-biased, uber inteligent media. The only people watching the VMA's old enough to vote are teenage girls wanting to get a glimpse at Justin Timberlake.
MTV is not going to change to course of the election, unless Carson Daley makes a comeback. Because Carson Daley will get the Goths to come out and vote.

what is up with the republicans thinking that we are all a bunch of goths? If we are going to stereotype how about you republicans go back home to your momma/sister and eat your roadkill soup-rednecks.

You say that as if Jon Stewart never bashes Kerry on his show.

Negative. I'm not liberal. I dispise Kerry. I'm from MA so everytime I go to pump gas, I thank Kerry for that extra 50 cents on the price.
For the Goth part, I didn't say Dems were Goths, I said Carson Daley was a Goth.
Big Tim-O! I had to call you that, really. Yeah, would you like Mit Romney in '08? I think he's doing a killer job as governor of Mass. Eh?

Romney is doing an awsome job in MA. I really like him as a person. He's down to earth also. I've seen him actually shoveling his driveway in the winter, and while it's not a big deal it's still surprsing to see a person of his status doing it.
I can't really judge him compared to previous governor's because I didn't really get intereseted until the Jane Swift era of terror. SHE SUCKED. She used the states helicopter to fly out to visit family. She was just a terrible governor, so anything is better than her.
Yeah, same with VT, where Dean was better than the woman that wanted to get rid of AC in cars and disposable diapers. But back to MTV. I don't like anything that station makes, creates, or plays. Nothing good comes of it. Stupid MTV. Every song played sucks. Now, MTV 2 is awesome, as is the 2 Dollar Bill sometimes. Mainly because MTV 2 likes Radiohead. But MTV is corrupt, and it's cool to hate Bush. But Alice Cooper likes Bush. So cool.

You do know its the same company right? So if one is evil than the other would be vicariously. Yeah I hate alice cooper but I love radiohead. Radiohead is for Kerry though raine. Hail to the thief-that title was directed at the pirating of the album and at Bush who they thought stole the election.
Hm, you think I don't know that? You think I haven't heard Radiohead concerts where Thom Yorke says "no more idiots in charge" or stuff like that? And actually, "Hail to the Thief" was directed at people who don't act like themselves, who are taken over. However, it has political undertones, so is one of my least favorite Radiohead albums. Every star, it seems, is for Kerry, or at least anti-Bush. I'm not sure why. I'm not a big fan of Alice cooper myself, but for him to go beyond the norm, that's impressive. He's a break in the cycle, and it's refreshing. I know MTV and MTV 2 are the same company, I'm not dumb. You're confusing my political commentary with my social commentary. But they are VERY different.

Didn't Kerry's daughters get booed? Also, I heard that the booing got worse when they tried to shush the crowd....I don't have cable so I can neither confirm nor deny.
I liked John Stewart in the past, but he seems really anti Bush. Usually he'll throw in a john kerry joke so he doesn't seem too biased, but he doesn't leave any doubt about his political views...It's a topic in every discussion I've seen of his recently.

yeah the kerry girls got booed, and they were getting pretty pissed about it.
I can't stand it that it is fashionable to hate bush, when most poeple only hate him cause it's cool, they don't even look at the issues.

Most people hate him because their parents hate him. the same goes for the other side though. I know alot of people who have no knowledge of the issues but hate Kerry regardless because they grew up to hate democrats. I respect all of you on this board because at least you know the issues. We disagree but you are at least informed.

The Kerry girls got booed, but so did the Bush girls. If I had to wager a guess, the "boo levels" were exactly the same for both. Although, you could see the Kerry girls getting upset because they could hear it. The Bush girls were on via satellite and thus, could not hear the loud round of boos.

Who boos twins? Honestly, what is wrong with these people?

We've already established that I am a 'Neck, but you dont have to blow it outta proportion.
It's a proven fact, most Democrats are goth like!
It's a proven fact, most Republicans are Rednecks!
But all the goths are carrying around "No War" signs at my HS, and most Rednecks are carrying around guns in their freetime!
And I thought goths liked to think about death.

This is what I've heard as well. Maybe that's a sign for MTV to pursue more art & less political activism. The crowd attending the VMAs is not there to have have politics shoved down their throats...any more than people showing up for a politcial rally are there to listen to an Eminem set.
I think booing a public speaker is rude, but those kids have a legit beef as far as being pissed off.

maybe they should just (gasp) stick to music videos.
I have enough trouble without watching MTV Spring Break reruns in Feb. and getting depressed. Jerks.

Am I the only person who has noticed MTV plays videos from like 12-6 in the a.m.? 6 hours of music on a music television station? That's rediculous.

yeah MTV sucks, i think everyone here, both republican and democrat, can agree to that. Much Music in Canada is what its all about. Or do you remember the BOX or something. THat was cool too.
