View Full Version : Best New England High School Teams?

LSM

I feel that New England lacrosse doesnt get the props it should, especcially Rhode Island... Each year our all-star teams dominate the Youth Festivals, Lake Placid etc. And our HS teams have a few of the best... Sure the public school league blows *** but our preps are damn good, who do you think are the best teams in New England?

i beg to differ with teh comment about RI "dominating" the youth tournaments My town team plays you guys every year at teh souhegan lacrosse festival and evry year except one we stomped on you team adn that was just a town team not even a allstar team i mean they were decent but nothing to brag abuot

LSM
10-24-2003, 10:39 PM
yea idk, the only year i was on it we stomped everyone, i dont really keep track now... sorry i was only talking abt the year i was on it, too bad there isnt really a team older than U-15... i remem. we crushed mass bay, phila, az, san diego, pittsburg, up state, maine... it was a good bunch of festivals...

were you on that LI team that we wrecked at Mohegan Arena? yea were werent a town team, we just didnt have our RI jerseys... it wasnt the full team though like a picked up crew..

I'd hafta say Darien in CT is probly the best. Greenwich isn't that good they have some ok players but there nothing special. BC High isn't that good either, I played with a lot of there kids at camp...real cool buncha guys but again nothing special lacrosse wise. All these teams are better then my team tho so I can't say anything really.

i'd say the only good thing about NMH is that its in Greenwich, which is starting up a sick (or so i hear) lacrosse team from june till february.

Exeter and andover probably should be up there, they've got good teams, and LSM: we play in the private school leagues division2 i think. they won the WNESSLA chamionships for D2 in 2002, so maybe we moved up.

LSM

Westwood, King Phillip, Lexington, Ashland, Walpole, Oliver Ames, Mansfield, Hanover, Canton, Scituate, Dover Sherborn, and Medfield.

Medfield has always been a good lacrosse program. I believe last season they went 22-2.

alright you guys forget about one rhodeisland team in particular, it would be a little place called bishop hendriken, they have one the state championships many many times and they have probably one of the sickest attack line ups ever they have a boy named collin brigs whose a freshman and had 7 goals in the championship game, i dunno about you guys but palyin varsity and doin that well at 15 in unbelievable, also they have robby walsh who was the first freshman jv captain at the school ever, of course his dad is dr. walsh who was on the usa team and the brine sponsored team so there sick as hell

andover + exeter have been week lately, nobles beat us last year by one on a last second heave down field.'

problem with the ISL is that we have no postgrads. All the Founders league schools do. You take that away from them and lots are weaker. As for loomis... not too impressed when we played them at choate. Middlesex and Milton are good though

What is the word on NMH? In 1985 I was the All New England player there under Coach Alfred Brown. He was and is the greatest coach ever. Better than coach Urick. Played for him too. I'm just an old guy now, but I remember St. Paul's coming in undefeated and we whooped them up. But then again, it was a long time ago.

ok first of all duxbury was destroyed by deerfield last year so idk why u think that duxbury is the bets in new england...also, moses brown is good, but not the bets either...id say that darien is the bets public school team in new england (undefeated and CT state champs last year, also beat some long island teams like manhassett) and salsbury loomis adn deerfield are all up there for top prep school temas in new england

Lax101

Ya he is, plus a player committed to Georgetown, and another at Yale, and then a laundry list of others.

Last seasons North Andover and Duxbury...not sure about this season since both teams lost a lot of good players
North Andover? Don't let Connoly fool you. The team played extremely soft D2 competition and got squashed in the D2 tournament. If you put some decent longpoles on Connoly (like CUSEJHU2 from last year), they lose. They couldn't hang with the upper MA teams.

Duxbury did not play Deerfield last year in the regular season. And if it was a scrimmage, please learn not to take a scrimmage seriously. It is a scrimmage, not a real game.

Duxbury lost 7-9 to Niskayuna, runners up to West Genessee, and beat some top NY teams along the way. They have better DI recruits than these prep schools, too

How about Loomis or Hotchkiss or any founders league team. But as far as best in new england deffinetly loomis they're currently in first and they won new england 1 west last year that makes them the best and Duxbury isn't to shabby either.
