Has any one tried the Harrow goalie shaft? --im not talking about the freeze-- just harrows plain old goalie shaft, it seems pretty cool but was wondering if anybody had seen it/used it/heard anything about it because i was gonna purchase it, but if it isn't good for goalie, or if i should just go with an attack then please feel free to state that information.
and yes, i did search, i DID NOT find what i was looking for
thanks all help is appreciated

yea, mostly what ive heard about the harrow goalies was to stay away from them. just go with a good scandium, c555, or titanium shaft. also, howd the string job go?

i don't have any goalie shooting strings at the moment, i ordered a CRAP LOAD of mesh/goalie mesh from jima on saturday, but since it was a holiday weekend i won't get it my stuff till tomarrow, i also ordered another nemesis from lax.com so i can practice my stringing!
about the harrow goalie shaft, yea i hear alot of "stay away" but as you saw in my pictures, i have LOTS of tape on my stick... i need lots of grip, so i was thinkin a harrow would be sweet. if i ever have the money i might buy it, but right now, i guess i'll steer away from it. the only good thing i hear about it is the grip, other then that they seem kind of a waste of money... they are $130. i have tried a diamond, but ended up taping one of those too... o well, the tape works fine, if not helps me so i know exactly where my hands feel comfortable but its annoying i have to put a new layer of tape on every other game, right now i have 3-4 layers of tape on my "main" hand spots.

Yeah I had it for 1 and a half years now. Grip is awesome, weight is awesome. The only con I see in it is that it can be a little weak. Its not extremely flimsy because my D men check my stick as hard as they can and it doesn't break but the paint does (which looks cool with speckles)
I broke my first one when I went to throw a clear and a attack came at me with a nasty wound-up check so the two sticks collided. I got it back from a warranty.

idk personally...i was goin to get it but instead i just got the warrior kyptolyte because its cheaper and lighter, but it doesnt have the grip you would want.

yea, but i was just thinkin about it, i really want that grip, thats the main reason lol, not so much as in wieght that i care, im no noodle arms, i just want something with good grip, a diamond and ice won't do it because its still slippery, just makes a cool noise when you run your hand down it, or when you rub it along another shaft! (sounds like a sword! lol!)

i just ment if ur a goalie u wanna have the lightest stick tou can get as long as its not alluminum. that way your quickness will raise.

last summer i bought a titan classic...really light...kryptolyte kinda light...and its sturdy titanium...for your gripping issue i had the same problem before i started using a hockey grip...roll a strand of tape and wrap it up the shaft. you can cross 2 if u nee. then jus run normal tape over it like 2 or 3 times...the little roll locks in w/ your fingers so the distance between when wrapping around is completely personal preference. good luck and avoid the harrow...i met a goalie that broke one at a camp, then another 2 weeks later.

(look at the one of the full stick...)
EDIT: forgot to say you can enlarge it to..
and i know the titan classic is sturdy, i have one in long pole form. But never thought about gettin one.. i just didn't want to spend that much money to have it dent when i hit the post..

nah not like that wut i mean is like this:
http://www.e-lacrosse.com/2001/ss2001/q&a/tape3.jpg
i have that at 3 different parts of my shaft. As for chipping and denting i find the post w/ my shaft wherever i am..needless to say i bang it alot. no wear and tear yet. I've even crosschecked a middie right across his scandium and it didnt do any thing more than scratchin off a little logo. And besides, you get what you pay for

so do you suggest getting a titan classic?
Also, is there a chance you can show me your shaft with the tape job?

hey not a problem man im glad to help out any goalie as much as i can. Also what head do you have? because i particularly enjoy my nemesis...I went to this great camp over at one of the local high schools and Jesse Schwartzman from Hopkins worked with me and two other goalies for 3 hours a day for 4 days and he gave me a bunch of tips on tape and stringing and heads. so if you have any other questions just ask

I have 2 nemesis' and 1 abyss, i use the nemesis' for my game and back up stick, my game stick is the one that i posted earlier, its slightly bent, its a nemesis on a kpro, and my back up nemesis i just got today with a klyte, so im starting to learn how to string goalie heads, i can do sidewalls, shooters, throat, but for some reason, i have ALOT of trouble doing the scoop, i just can't get it started...
But im still 1 shaft short so, i would probably put the kpro on the abyss (since its bent at the bottom) and keep the nemesis and klyte as a back up, then my game stick would be nemesis and titan classic.

(with the nemesis) start on the far right rectangular hole (opening of face facing away from you) and knot it off like you normally would. Then basically you have to do what you do with the sidewall except you have to do it twice per hole. here's a pic:
http://s208.photobucket.com/albums/bb66/goersh63/?action=view¤t=100_0565.jpg
its a little blurry, but if you can see how to do it then its ridiculously strong.

yea thats how i have it on one of them, i got it factory strung, i just want to learn for myself, one of teammates and my twin bro are teaching me (my twin bro strings, i do fancy tape jobs, shooters, and custom endcaps, so we are gonna teach each other what we both know lol!)

thats the way to do it. Mine is the same style as factory stringing but i relaced and hardened everything with a lighter. I'm the same way with taping because i've played hockey, baseball, and lacrosse, which means 8 years of taping

not wood bats. they jus come smooth. I frogot to answer your question before about titan classic weight. It's jus a smidge heavier than klyte pro but its barely detectable.

When you're taping, try flipping the tape over so the sticky side is what you hold. It'll make a drastic difference, but you'll need to replace it every 2 or 3 games.

What do you have for gloves because that could also be a reason you do not have grip. For more grip my i suggest wraping the tape backwards so the sticky part is out as stated above or trying gorilla snot which is supose to be for musicians to keep there drumsticks and picks in hand. As for the harrow all the ones I have tryed I have liked.

If you're buying it only for grip..stay away. The grip smoothes out as the shaft collects dirt. I use tape over my harrow.
Overall I like the balance it gives with my nemesis. I like the shape and feel of the harrow, but it's not the best shaft (it's the best for me though). If you can, try one out before you buy it.

If you're looking for a lot of grip, the harrow has more then a plain metal shaft, but not as much as tape adds. The grip is still there (not a ton of paint has chipped off in over a season), but it's definately not as grippy as when I got it. I use tape in all the same places I did with my klyte.

oh the freeze... hmm... my coach has one, i didn't like it, it doesn't bend or flex at all and the scoop is REALLY thick and doesn't bend at all so GB's are harder to grab then with a nemesis.
personally, just go with a Nemesis and a Kpro, you'll love it.

The Contender is terrible for cradeling and quick clears.
