i can see how they would think that, but colors, especially for goalies is for fun more than anything, and part of a culture. If you want to I say go for it.

At least noone is claiming it will attract the shooter's attention. I think that is complete BS. Shot location is determined by the torque, release point, and follow through, which involve the back, legs, hips, shoulders, arms, and wrists.

A neon goalie pocket will hardly influence shot location--there are too many other factors that have nothing to do with a pocket that catches your eye...

Bright mesh looks so cocky. You'll never see it in high school or college. Lose the neon mesh, and get all white or your school colors. Plus when you get older, you'll get made fun of so much for bright mesh, especially pink and green.

Alford used yellow in highschool and green his junior year. alot of guys on UMD used green mesh.

Keep with the white coloured mesh sucks its way harder and just looks bad.

If you have colored mesh, a shooter will likely NOT aim at that area. I think of white as a camo appearence. Plus you can hide the ball with white mesh.

Keep it to school colors...

Schwartzman for JHU, Carcaterra in '00 for JHU, Mulligan in '00 for Cuse, Scherr in '03 for JHU, Pfeiffer in '04 for Cuse, etc...

I stick with just the traditional white! It makes a camo appearence like stated above, and it's just a nicer look in my opinion. I think neon colors stick out too much.

alot of good points here. probably gonna just go with some white mesh, with royal sidewalls (school colors). i really dont want to look cocky. thanks for all the replies.

1) It's not your parents stick.
2) They wont be looking at it all the time, so it doesnt matter what they think.
3) If you want bright mesh, then go for it.

I personally love to string up bright things. I have a good amount of neon green things in my desk, I like the color. If you like bright colors and want to buy some bright colored stuff go for it.

I also like school colored stuff too. The colors combinations usually look good. But in the end, its up to you.

it wasnt the fact that my parents were saying no, it was why they were saying no. i was wondering if the had a valid point, or if they were wrong.

i don't know if the attracting the shooter thing works, but if i were a goalie i think i would you a bright colored mesh or at least colored mesh, i mean it can't hurt can it- unless you're worried about what other people think of you, and i believe on of the most important things i want my goalie to have is confidence..

don't use it unless you ARE the best. simple.

idk i'm a huge fan of themed sticks, or simple, plain & understaded.
example:
school colors are maroon black & white.
i have a white nemesis with white 14d, black sidewalls and 2 maroon shooters with a black nylon.
simple and looks very clean.
my other stick has 20d and is ALL white.
btw all white heads look amazing on white harrow ibeams ahha

however i'm putting together a themed stick soon, camo dyed nemesis with brown 12d, olive green shooters, black sidewall, on a wonderboy xcel A/M shaft.
it's just whatever you think looks good.

I like the colored mesh, white gets boring. I don't think I would go totally neon tho, that might be a little cocky. But I just strung my eclipse last night with school colors, Maroon mesh and gold sidewalls. It's really cool looking. But if you can back it up with skill, then theres no prob with neon colors.

While it undoubtedly will make the shooter more aware of the goalie's stick, who's to say that it will make the shooter put the ball in the stick?
The logic doesn't stand out for me when people make that argument. We're humans, not flies attracted to a light. Shooters will simply put the ball where the've trained themselves to, and you should probably spend more time practicing those difficult saves than stringing some crazy colored mesh. If not, you'll regret it when the other team is celebrating their win and laughing at the goalie who thinks he's good enough to have that crazy mesh.

I'm not saying neon mesh shouldn't be used, simply that saving the ball doesn't have anything to do with some gimmick, it has to do with your actual skill.

If you want to use neon mesh, all the power to you. But don't expect to make any more saves because the shooter will be impelled to pass you the ball.

it looks cocky in a feild stick but since ur a keeper there exceptions, and i know that when u have bright mesh it draws ur eyes to the stick but that onlyworks at a younger age
