it says the kid shot it with a .50 cal pistol...i do not think an 11 yo could shot a gun of that size...but if he could, then he pretty much just killed a rhino.

You would be suprised.

I believe this was at a high fence facility. As a hunter I hate these kind of places. Usually arent fair chase.

A Pig could never get that big in wild.

The last year my family has been trying to eat some 200+ pounds of elk. I have now had enough elk for a good 2 years.

I can only imagine how much bacon they will be eating for the next few years.

Look at the size of the pig, look where the bullet hole is and then look at the size of the pistol. I'm gonna say no way, because one bullet is not gonna stop that behemoth.

THAT IS HOW WE DO IT IN ALABAMA!!!

but if you look closely and on the plantations website (http://www.lostcreekplantation.com ), you will see a huge difference in size between the two photos. My guess is that when they took a second picture, the dad came up with the idea to make the pig look bigger by making his son crouch further back while he set up the photo to make it look like the hog was bigger.

Also note the many bullet holes not only near the heart (behind the front shoulder blade for all you non-hunters) but near the back legs and lower back.

If an 11 year could shoot, let alone lift a .50 caliber revolver, it would either dislocate his arms or crush his face in on the recoil.

I read somewhere, maybe Newsweek that it took 11 bullets or something to bring it down

HdGLaxWarrior

i read it's actually 1,060. because the kids father thought that when it was one notch above 1,050 it was 1,051. but it's actually more.

a hog of that size is real, type hogzilla in google which was another hog almost this big that was killed and tested and found out to be real. They grow bigger in that area.

they proved that wrong on the history channel. also there is no way an 11 yr old could handle a .50 cal. pistol unless he takes steroids
wild boars cant be that big since they pump demosticated pigs with growth hormone and they are only about 900 lbs

it wasnt one shot. i read this on fox news website i think... the kid said it took like 10 or 11 shots to bring it down. then he shot it point blank in the head to finish it off.

I have a hard time believing this story. Not the fact that the pig was that big or that the kid killed it, but the fact that the kid had a .50 cal hand gun and was able to use it. I saw a show on TV were a grown man had trouble using one because of the recoil.

We dont know the load he was shooting. That can make a pretty big difference. How many grains of powder. How many grains his bullet was.

For example My 28 guage shoots the same load as my 20 gauge. And kicks much more. It is much smaller then the 20 guage. The larger the bore doesnt mean larger recoil.

I will agree .50 cal is pretty big but I shot some very large guns when I was 9 and 10. Some that still hurt me today. If you are shown how to shoot, it really makes thing easier .

It's real. It's way bigger than hogzilla.
They sold the meat online, my global issues teacher bought some, it was extremly expensive.
It took 11 shots from point blank to kill it apparently.

Ya know doubt it is real, but the whole thing with the dad being a glory hound because his son shot is a little much... But look at the picture Blue provided in this thread, there is a HUGE difference. But give credit where it is due an 11 year old shot a half ton pig.

Im gonna call bs that, no matter the size of a gun, that an 11 year old kid could stand toe to toe with a beast that big; and, be brave enough to unload 11 times on him.

the story i read on fox was that he has been hunting his whole life. he killed his first deer when he was like 6 or something. so im sure the kid knows how to shoot a gun. im sure his dad wouldnt just hand him a .50 cal and be like here shoot it. he prolly spent hours at the range learning how to handle that big of a firearm

I don't doubt that this kid could handle that powerful of a gun. I am not saying that it is easy but if he has been around guns for a good amount of time and has practiced with this said gun then yes it is possible. Also it depends on the gun design, gun weight, bullet weight and how much powder charge the bullet had. The gun design, gun weight and powder charge that the bullet has are big factors on how much recoil the gun has. A .50 caliber bullet can be quite powerful but it could also be not so powerful.
Anyways unless all those things I've mentioned have happened or are in affect, it could be possible that he couldn't have shot that gun.
So yes I believe that he could have shot that gun unless someone else proves otherwise.
Also that is a huge boar :imparied: .

i think the big is real, but i think the story isn't real.

yes, it may have been shot 11 times, but i doubt by the kid with a .50 handgun. I just don't see a kid that young being able to handle that gun even if he had been shooting his whole life.

I've changed my opinion.

Although this Pig is actually huge, it wasn't even wild. The kid's dad is a douche bag who thinks its fun to let loose huge FARM GROWN pigs out in his hunting property, and then he hunts them down and kills them. God i would hope its that big, the thing got raised off corn, and lived in a normal, perfectly harmless environment. Its not that hard to kill a pig with no survival instincts at all. The kid who shot it could of walked up to it, petted its snout, took a step back, and then shot it for all the pig would care. It was tame for god's sake. Pigs have been grown bigger then that on farms. IF that pig had gotten that large in the Wild, it would be dubbed the uber-pig and be praised beyond all else(like hogzilla, which was a legitimately wild pig). Instead, it got huge in some fattening farm, let loose, then killed just so someone could get some free advertising of their hunting property for killing a huge pig. Straight up ridiculous. Plus it took the kid 8 shots to kill it. How the hell can you shoot something 8 times and not kill it? Are you that terrible of a shot, or were your using a Pellet gun? Either way, 8 shots in an animal and its still alive, you don't deserve to hunt. You've crossed the line into unethical when it takes 4, but 8? Too much gun for such a small kid if he is that inaccurate. It obviously wasn't a humane harvest, because of the 8 shots. Wow i'm angry about this... Whatever, I don't care. That kids retarded for thinking he can cleanly kill an animal with a gun he can barely lift, let alone shoot, and his dads even more retarded for putting a huge *** farm grown pig into the wild. It would of died in a few more days if they hadn't killed it anyways, so i guess it wouldn't of made a difference, but still.

isn't it illegal for some kid his age to used a .50?here in CA, its illegal for a child that is 14 and younger to use a 9mm so there is no way its legal for a kid to use that thing...

edit: its illegal to even own a .50 here

farm grown pigs also eat growth hormone so thats why they are huge.

the biggest farm grown pig is just over 1000 lbs, and thats due to pumping it with growth hormone. there is absolutly no way this is true
