as a first timer i was really disapointed. i think i saw 10 shots the whole tryout. i dont think that they can really have a good look. i did alright how did the rest of you guys do/ what do u feel?

i though it was crowded. my dad said he counted 150ish kids. 18 goalies, 47ish D, 53ish mids and 40someodd Attack
my team had 7 D men. so we had 2 lines, and my line had to split time between 4 guys. i only played in 2 of the games which sucked. i didn't play bad but i did nothing to stand out. overall i was ok cause my footwas broken all season so this was the first time i went full pads in over 2 months and i didn't get burned
the hardest part was getting to knwo your team so you could have a fell for things. some guys wanted to slide from crease, some wanted an adjecent slide, and some guys were just terrible either way :)
i'm gonna bust my butt tomorrow and hope for the best

there were so many people there. and o-town, it was funny when i saw you and questioned you about tlf.
i only got 6 shots on goal, saved all 6, but cleared the ball a lot. i was kinda asking for a crease slide...i was under the impression that the defense was told a slide package to follow when we broke up for line drills. tomorrow ill call it out.
it wasnt too boring, but i was a bit dissapointed. will the tryouts run differently tomorrow?

Empire try-outs are...fun. I went my sophomore year and opted out my junior year for a camp. This year, I obviously can't do it. Anyways, I can tell you that if you make the team, you're in great hands. Many college coaches attend empires and it's just another thing you want to take part of it you can. That's a big if though. Empires are pretty political, and unless you have connection or you're well-known and most people think you deserve a spot before you hit the field, you probably won't be finding your self at the empire games in your team's jersey.
One mistake could cost you a spot. Make sure you're on top of your game. Not just saving, but all around make sure you're on top of your game. You don't see very much time in goal, so capitalize on every situation handed to you. Be loud and make it be known that you're on the field. You really have to wow the coaches and other people selecting if you want a shot. If you don't make it, realize there are players out there that go on to bigger and better things without empires. It's not the end of the world if you don't make it, although it can open up quite a few doors if you're looking to get recruited.

yea, i utilized the bounce pass today and it was pretty good. though on field. my stick wasnt in tune today for the most part, so i had to for short passes. and i guess it makes sense how its political. there are rumors that were only filling like 8 spots, the other 12 are for john jay and yorktown kids and stuff like that.
even if i do end up getting 1 of the 3 spots, i actually cant play. i committed to coaching a bunch of little kids at a camp i used to go to in ct. its something i cant get out of because its the first year of lax at that camp and there are only me and a few of my friends from maryland and connecticut that are doing it, so i cant get out of it.

I'm trying out but for the girls team. I thought i did fairly good. I know i messed up sorta badly on my clears but eh hopefully on saturday i can redeem myself. only about 8-ish goalies tried out, what i didnt think was too fair was that one of the girls dad is a judge person so of course she'll make the team and im not too sure how many goalies they would carry. eh i'll just try my hardest.

what i heard today for us was that they basically prechose the goalies. i heard its going to be chris latino from jay, mike bonitabus from yroktown, and the lakeland goalie.

well.. i just came from the second try-out session and im disappointed to say the least. i made the alternate team but it's still ridiculous how obvious it is that they play favorites.

i hear you. i tried out for the boys team. they only focused on 1 field the entier time, so ever good play i made, no one even saw. it was pretty funny how a lot of the coachs/evaluators were just joking around and not even watching

Good luck everyone. Not to hijack or anything but if I live on Long Island, but also have a house in the Adirondack region, can I try out for Adirondack?

theres like a loophole about that. you gotta look on the registration forms and stuff, hey explain residency things...if you live in teh adirondacks and go to school somewhere else than you can try out, but i dont think thats what your talkin about.

I think there was a kid from PA last year who tried out for ADK because of a summer home. Out of curiosity rebel_lax, where's your summer home?
rebel_lax40

Well its not a summer home, but mainly a winter home that I go to every weekend in the winter to ski. It's in Windham.

Oh sorry, I looked at the region thing and I was trying to compare it to the different maps and it looked Adirondack. I know its in the Catskills but idk what region it would be for empires. Thanks though for answering my question, I think I'm going to e-mail them or call them in a few months.

While Windham isn't part of the Adirondack Park, its county is included for the Adirondack team borders. But, from what I've seen, the players are always from the Albany and north to the border. If you were going to try out this year, too late, tryouts started last week.

Koss, Obrien and Rende is the alternate

Good for Ian. Rende sucks, he never should have made it last year.

He shouldnt be there this year either. The only reason hes been on the team is because Schwan is the coach. Carpenter got robbed last year because of that and i'm sure other guys did this year too.

Yeah, I got cut for him at the last tryout last year too. Logan (Carpenter) and I both ended up with over 70% this season (him with 198 saves, me with 233), where Rende had 57% and 150 saves. I think he was one of the big reasons they couldn't win last year.

Yeah man. I never played against Koss, Obrien, or Manchester but from the teams we played you and carpenter were the best goalies
