In this pic of travis reed, I saw that he has a weird stringing on his stick. looks like a really low pocket and a low U and straight nylon. does anyone have a similar combo like this, and how does it throw? basically I was just wondering what this threw like.

is it just me or does his pocket look way too deep?

it resembles danowski's prety closely but lace instead of nylon

its basically a high pocket moved down, which releases quick and throws great fakes.

how is that a "wierd" setup? if that stick was being used by a 12 year old who could barely cradle, most people would say that it's strung badly or even that its really simple. instead of thinking that all good players use rediculously intense and complicated stringjobs, why can't they just have simple ones? during a lacrosse trip my team had this spring we had the chance to see Hopkins's lockerroom and almost every stick was two straight and a U, nothing special at all. and that's the best team in the nation right there.
Thats almost how my game stick is now and a lot of the times, except I do 1 nylon skip two rows than do my U. It throws nice and gives you a good feel. The reason I use it is for the release it feels good, you really feel the ball leave, it sort of has a kick to it. That's just me though and its preference. Because his nylon and U are closer than mine it probably throws a little smoother and with a little less feel. Try it though.

WHAT??? You mean a low pocket?

it just looks like a slightly modified brine factory job

my set up is very similar to that i dont like having too many shooters and its no modified brine factory string job you actually have to channel the mesh.

but how do they get there pockets like that? a lot of college players have similar pockets: loose lower sidewalls, loose bootom string, and a really deep defined pocket. if you look in IL magazine there is a lot of pictures with college kids like these. how do you do it? someone should try and string one

its really not that complicated its a channeled low pocket

...so what you guys are saying is that is a legal pocket and the inertia of the "power cradle" is enough to put the ball inches below legal? Hmmmm.....
A hard shot would put the ball even deeper then any cradle, right?
I have never seen a legal pocket bag out like this, regardless of how it's strung. It does seem somewhat common but what does that mean... I have 6 sticks in this room with legal low or mid-low pockets with hard and soft mesh. I cant force a bag, like the ones we are discussing, using my heel on the ball, with the stick top on the ground? They go from just legal to 1/2" illegal before the top starts to bend. Hmmm...

yeah... doesn't look like a power cradle to me... just looks like an illegally deep pocket... as for the stringing, Who cares? I'm tired of all these people who are trying to replicate danowski's stick, or any player for that matter. Just use the pocket that works for you. i can almost guarentee that the "Danowski" pocket you strung throws entirely different than the Original Danowski pocket.

like D-Man35 said i think he just kept the factory string job in the cyber he bought and maybe just loosened the bottom string a little to give it some depth. its not a weird set-up. personally i dont think there is such thing as a weird set-up, unless its like a pocket full of shooters or something along the lines of that. if it throws good then it isnt a weird set-up in my opinion.

WHAT??? You mean a low pocket?
well yes, a low pocket but think of how a high pocket works. the ball sits right under the shooter, making it able to have a quick release and the ability to fake well. now take the shooter and move it down so the ball sits low in the head, but still right under the shooter so it has the atributes of a high pocket.
^ Your thinking of the Danowski style pocket, this is different his shooters aren't positioned low enough for that.
Heres my current game stick:

I'm not tryin to be mean, but what do your stringjobs have to do with this topic?
Laxattack05
