View Full Version : New String Job C+C (what type of mesh?)

New stringing I just did, still working on it. Constructive criticism welcomed. I got the Head for the NCAA Brine tent with the Powells. Does anyone know what type of mesh it is just by looking at it? It's really hard to break in and some times contracts after you've put a pocket in it. Got it from Jima aboout 3-4 months ago, got another of the same type free with the order, anyone know? Another good thing about the stick is the double sidewall makes it so you can't see light though the space, to check if it's illegal. That's legal right?

EDIT: Looks like soft mesh to me. Nice topstring.

looks pretty sweet. i like that topstring. but it looks like it lacks a little in the hold department...no?

I'm pretty sure that's legal.
Yea, it does look like it has no hold, but if he likes it that way... All in all, looks good.

the topstring is hot..and if its really hard and hard to break in..then its most likely Catapultion...

comments and criticism. and since you said 3 or 4 months ago im thinking that its optical mesh or it could be catapultion. optical was a hard mesh that they tried a new formula for weather...didnt turn out well.
edit - yea, you said hard to break in and goes back sometimes...defintely optical. its so ridiculously hard to break in, i spent 3 hours once trying to break in a piece of it and i failed miserably.
Looks pretty good, how did you do those sidewalls? And I think EHS is right it's the dreaded optical mesh, you can search for more info on it, but its definately not cata.

The sidewalls are double sidewalled. And I like hold on mine but the mesh is so hard to break in.
Just noticed something, the sidewalls are really loose up at the top, might want to tighten those up.

Ya I noticed that too, if it lacks hold tightening the sidewalls up top will help with getting some more hold, but you may not get any using that optical mesh, I never had any of that stuff but from what I've heard from people on the the forums is that stuff was just terrible.
Nice stringing overall and that topstring is really cool.

An example of how hard it is to break in is: I put to balls in there with screwdrivers for 2 nights and it's double sidewalled and the pocket is only that big.
The reason it's not tight there is because there wasn't enough string to get the knot tied real tight. Believe me I tried. If I would try to do it again I might not be able to get the knot tied.
Also, something I noticed with the head is the sidewall holes at the top are too big and a single looped knot just slip throughs.
