What determinds a good season for you, your save percentage or your record. Both my save percentage, 65%, and my record,
15-2-1, are both good, at least I think. But what makes a good season for you the save percentage or the record?

well record is always good but isn't always an indicator of the play of the goalie and the same goes with save%. I had a save % some where in the 70s (coach hasn't told exact figures yet) and was 6-5 when i played (all but 2 games).
you also have to take into account your team and the compitition because you could see teams that are just incredably superior to you and that will drop your save % and w-l or the teams could suck and therefore not even indicate anything about our play

The golie at my school had a 75% save average this season. And now we're in states, and it's jumped up to about 80%. And we're undefeated.

Guys, he's not really looking for a show and tell session. The original question was more about what you look to that indicates how well your season was. Does a high save percentage mean you had a good season, or a good record?
I don't really look to either. My stats are flawed as it is, I'm convinced the statitscian has no clue what she's doing. Not to mention I've always had a weak defense in front of me, so I see a lot of in close shots with little help from my defense. My team record isn't based off of only me either. I could have a great game and still lose, or could have a horrible game and still win. Basically I don't use numbers to determine how well I did. I just know whether I thought I saved the shots I thought I should have, whether I think I've improved my fundamentals and quickness and all of that. It's all personal for me, and whether I have grown as a goalie. Numbers just can't tell me that because they leave out some key details.

exactly, supposedly my numbers are 100 saves (exactly 100, kinda wierd) and i let in 48 goals. so thats like .52
BUT our team only played 12 games so some people have better/worse scores because they have played more/less games.
Also, depends how many times you get shot on, if you only take 3 shots in that particular game and lets say you let in one, that doesn't really help to much.
All in all, stats don't really help to much, the situation of the game and HOW you made the save is alot more important.

i really have no idea what my percentages are and my save amounts are, but i also save at least double the goals that are scored on me or more.i also get a lot of shots because our defense is not that good, but the only real goals the other team scores on me are 1 on 1's or close up crankshots. my record this season though for the games i played in was 8-3 or something like that

Our JV goalie's best single game save percentage this season was 78.9% exluding shut-outs. Here are the game stats to back it up. I say a win for the teams record is more important, this is just coming from an attackman though.

wins vs loss is how good your offense is. Save % is how close the defense let them get. The way to do it is break down quality shots versus saves. I can stop 3 medium grade shots and let in 1 that should have never gotten close, and have a 75% save %...go by your level of play vs the level of competition

yea our school isnt that bad our defense is not great by any means :/
we ended a few weeks ago and ALMOST got into states
7-8
W-L
and im pretty mad cause when i asked my coach about our stats for goalies, she said she had the ones for later games but the ones in beginning of the season were inconsistent, yea we have 2 managers that sometimes dont show up so stats are messed up. but i save usually like around 70%

I do not count any of them. I am 5-0 in box right now but that is because I have a good team infront of me. I have played crap in some of those games.
I count my play on how well my coach says I played. If he compliments me, then I know I have improved. If he tells me that I should have had a certain shot or that I was not having my d-men set up properly, I know that I have not improved which makes me work harder in practice or the next game.
