my friend had a proton+ unpinched used maybe the equivalent of 5 games (practices) he had been using a kannon dpole though. So obviously it wasnt warped. but the refs did a stick check and found it to be 6 1/4 at the widest point. ref error????? or illeagal head?

could have been either. lots of heads come illegal. P2's often are a little skinny, tourques, tritons, cybers, answers, and chaos's aswell i have seen factory illegal(for you USA field boys that is)

Yea, but he's talking about Proton +'s, not Proton Powers. Proton +'s are so wide you could stick your knee in it. Unless it was a Proton Power, then it had to be the ref's mistake.

I realize this but, mine came at 6 1/4 (and i measured like 10 times).some of them just get warped in shipping, and if the sale is outside maybe it got baked all day and pulled in a little.

First of all, a proton+ on a Kannon pole, assuming it is a crankshaft 10 pole, it's illegal. Too much offset.

Second, I have seen proton warp from poke checking.
it's a warped head. One of my players was using a stick that didn't appear too pinched, and he got a stick check....
3 minutes in the box. I thought the refs blew it, but I checked it after the game, it was 6 3/8"

If you want to get technical...that wouldn't be illegal because STX doesn't use off-set, they use "Forward Cant Technology". While this basically provides the same effect as off-set, I believe the rules only cover off-set heads.

I'm sure most refs would call that illegal, but technically it isn't.

It has nothing to do with the kind of offset. It just has to pass the table-top test.

Really? I thought it was illegal to have a double off-set stick, and that was the rule. Like when STX released the R-Type (or whatever it was called) a long time ago, which mimics the Krankshaft/off-set head combo and was ruled illegal due to double offset.

You might be right though.

THE PROTON WAS NOT ON A CRANKSHAFT!!!!! IT WAS ON AN AXE
