I've been having problems clearing the ball latley. I've been over throwing the kids. I dont know if its my fault or there just not running after the ball. Now I'm a big kid for my age 5'7'' 170 lbs. at age 12.

aim for there head having a target always helps also maybe it could be your pocket or the way you are throwing

ask your coach if you are throwing right. otherwise try messing with ur pocket until u get it to work. try loosening it

at 12 years old it is not a good idea to mess with a pocket, just learn to throw correctly. Instead of taking an hour to work on your stick, get to a wall and throw for that time. trust me, it will pay off because in time you will be able to throw with just about anything.

cut 2 inches off your stick. it will increase accuracy and decrease distance

well its always better to over throw someone than it is to under throw them. even if you over throw they still have the speed of running to get the ground ball as to under throwing and having to stop and go back.

as to throwing make sure your hands are out and away from you body if your a righty try getting you right arm at a right angle vice versa if you a lefty and and then stap you top hand forwad and you bottom hand down at the same time, then follow through to your taget and step with you left foot if you a right or your right foot if your a lefty

dang you are a big kid!

anyway, your lucky that you overthrow, i underthrow... but you play in the 8th grade level right? well then maybe your teammates aren't running while the ball is in the air, i mean if you overthrow it, but its not that off then no big deal, the kid who you passed it too should have caught it, now if you are throwing to teammate at half line but you hit the opposing sides restraining box, then you have a problem, just don't put as much power, and like people above me said DON'T mess with your pocket, its better that you over throw rather then under throw. I wouldn't cut your shaft either, your big enough to handle a full size shaft, just during practice, ask coach to have like you and 2-3 kids practice it, helped me alot! get to a wall and do alittle bit of wall ball, aim for ONE spot on the wall, and hit it a few times, then back up, aim for the same spot and hit it a few times and keep moving backwards untill you are a good distance and can keep hiting that same spot, that should tell you how much power you need to put in your clear. Make the spot that you are aiming for about where your teammates head would be (stick head, not the head with a brain lol) make sure that the target isn't TOO big, but give alittle bit of lee-way. Also, when you back up, aim A BIT higher so the ball won't drop while they keep running. I had the same problem in 8th grade, but now they keep running and my passes are still the same lol...'

hope this helped.

are you consistently overthrowing them to the point where it becomes a problem? i.e. turnovers? maybe you could try passing it to an attackmen. definitley dont mess with your stick, at your age its all about fundamentals, i agree with everyone else definitley try and get on the wall for a few hours it would be even better if you could get somebody to pass to.
