I have been getting looked at latley by the JV lax coach at the high school. Now I am currently in 6th grade and he has been talking to me about moving up in 7th grade to play with them. Is this a good idea or should I stick with middle school ball for now?

It depends on your situation, it might be the right move for some, but not others. We need information about, while ultimately you're going to have to make the decision.

If you can handle the more mature kids (albeit at the JV level they're not exactly the most mature people in the world) and with the added pressure that comes with playing up a level, I would strongly suggest you take on the challenge of playing up if you're given the opportunity. Playing with better people and challenging yourself will only make you a better player. You'll learn a lot more than you would at the modified level.

if your big enough, then go for it, but we both know if your undersized it won't be much fun

Well seeing as how he is a goalie, I don't really see how size relates to how much "fun" he'll be having. Being a goalie doesn't really have a size requirement; short, tall, skinny.... it doesn't really matter. Seems like goalies can be successful as long as they know how to position themselves well and be quick. Even if it did, I assume the JV coach wouldn't ask him to come up if he didn't think he was ready or could handle it.

I didn't know I was in the goalie forum. Now I would agree with lilaxgurl23. Best of luck then.

one thing to make sure about is eligibility in my league you only got 4 years in high school and two middle. if your league is the same way you might miss two years later on

stick with middle school ball. moving up will put pressure towards product. Middle school ball isnt high school ball. a loss wont kill you. stay in middle school ball and hone your skills. Work on form, reaction time, and positioning, that way when high school comes, you wont even have to worry about JV, you can play varsity

Dany Loftus from Duke was a Five year varsity starter at his high school. he got the starting position as an eighth grader, so if your good enough to play at that higher level, then it could certainly open up a hell of a lot of oppurtunities.

move up to jv in 8th-smartest move. i did it and cannot tell you how much the experience will help. i beat out an 11th grader for the starting spot in 9th grade mainly because of that year on jv

which I could've done this. My county does not allow you to play for highschool if you aren't in it
