They use the grippy ball, it has a texture to it, and ofcourse it is orange.

Yeah I was at a tourny and they used the MML balls (I think) they got little bumps on it so I snagged one.

That is not the balls they use anymore, they now use balls with of triangular dimples on them, like a golf ball.

i use to have a ton of these not exactly like the one in the picture just a little more clean cut. they are cool when you first get them but after about a year of wear and tear they just turned into stones none of them even bounce anymore they just hit the ground and stop.

Don't the little bumps/dimples and the triangle bumps/dimples add grip?
Cause I love how people are complaining about sticks beings able to hold the ball to well, but, at the same time, we are making and using balls that add hold. Makes sense huh...

ever play with a really old ball that kinda has a shine to it and has a really smooth surface? they slide ride out of the pocket. if you pick up a brand new ball you can tell its got some grip to it. The MLL balls use golf-ball like dimples for grip and aerodynamics

Yeah I see your point and realize the old lacrosse balls have zero grip. I hate those, I just throw them out pretty much. I see how these dimples and trinagles prevent that from happening, but still, don't these dimples and trinagles add grip? Or no? Do these balls have the same amount of grip as a new "normal" lacrosse ball just that grip doesn't go away like a "normal" lacrosse ball? Or do they have more grip compared to a "normal" lacrosse ball?

i think using them is cheap because isnt the reason the ncaa is making heads wider to make it harder to hold the ball then they use grippy balls

i think they should use lime green balls they are very easy to spot

Not as easy as you think on turf or grass. I like the white MLL ones, they should use those.

I hate to but i like the neon pink balls the best. They are the easiest to spot in bushes. Lime green and orange arent easy to spot for me.

there's just a little extra grip so its harder for players to score and harder for the ball to roll, thats what i heard

i heard it was for players to curve the ball.
I know i can feel a little more hold and i can actually curve a shot a little more with them. And im not the fastest shooter. so if you amp up the speed, you amp up the curve.
Also, yeah, old balls that shine suck. they are all i have in my house right now, and i jsut got new cata mesh, ZERO HOLD fellas. ZERO.

I doubt it's so they can curve it. They probably use it so the players have more hold on the ball.

Yea, but this is the MLL.
I'ld rather they use the white ball. It's really not that hard to follow.

ehh i dunno dude. I went to an NJ Pride Practice last year, and it looked like they curved their shots pretty well.
but yeah, its probably made for more hold; a curve increase is just a bonus.

Don't they also change shape when shot?

some dude i talked to today at a dragons game told me that the orange balls were meant for the audience. not the tv viewers.
