Do you think the 2009 NCAA Head Specs. will slow down or make the level of playing any worse? Maybe more dropped passes or more dropped balls while driving? What do you think?

Players do a good job with protecting their sticks- I don't think i'll notice a significant difference.

I haven't really thought about it too much. But when I do I deffinatly think there will be more turnovers. This is because with the leniancy of slashes now a days to help d-men. It will be significantly easier to dislodge the ball.

hmm first of all how would widening the heads lead to more dropped passes? it means more passing less one on one driving and an overall faster pace to the game that and search next time this issue has been brought up many times

Plus to add on to what Maki just said, these players aren't going to lose a lot of ball control. Its all about how the pocket is strung.

i know i'm going to be going 1 v1 all the time anyway when i play college ball. i use a low pocket with a really tight channel so my av8 is like a super pinched stick

A lot of the Hopkins defenders were using x2's as well.
But look at Danowski, Greer, Seibald, Rabil, and Ross...
Pinched, pinched, pinched!!!!!

ehh not sure, it will be easier to catch the ball so more quick stick shots, but easier to dislodge the ball, i think it is alittle bit more what level you play on. I played JV this past season (im goalie) and i gotta say, the teams we faced weren't too good--my HS is somewhat of a big lacrosse HS, its popular, whereas alot of the teams we faced were first year teams, like the lax program just started so.... i mean, it was already easy enough to dislodge the ball, but still hard to do quick sticks, i think it will make the game more enjoyable than watching 1 attackmen/middy take it from the restraining box and run around the net a few times while getting nailed like no other and still scoring, but i think it has to do alot with the stringing. When i did play LSM, i perferred wider heads because the way i string mine, plus with open heads it is easier to scoop (at least for me..) But i know alot of people that like pinched heads... just don't know why, my personal opinion is, that 1 inch wider (or around that, all heads are different) isn't gonna make that much of a difference either way so i don't know...

I think people are making it out to be a much bigger deal than it really is. Half of Hopkins uses Protons, and a lot of Brine-sponsored players use Cybers. I doubt it will change much.
kids on cornell use them too
