i was at a tournament today in massapequa and over at the Stx tent i saw some very interesting things

sorry no pics my phone died on the way there

well i saw the new stx g22 gary gait gloves and lemme just say, when i tried em on, i was impressed. The all black looked ugly but they felt so broken in out of the bag it was ridiculous. the cuff was a little loose for my liking though just held by an elastic band and a tie, no floating cuff but overall itt'l be a nice glove, granted they get some nice colorways

and the guy said something i thought i'd never hear

they're gonna re release the x2, as the Xcalibur, but still it looked more like the X2 then the original excalibur so be on the lookout

and other than that there wasn't much there cept for goalie k18's with plates, and hopkins k18's(very nice)...and some cuse arm pads, i believe they were shoguns

so yeah if anyone else went/got pics go for it

and sorry if this was already a thread about this stuff, i searched and got nothin

Re-release of the X2, I can't wait to watch X2 prices plummet on eBay.

And I have been needing some new gloves, its good that I waited; Guess will get the STX G22 gloves.

I know why they can't call it the x2 anymore. The Brine Lawsuit. That's why it went from the x2 to the x2+. Now that Brine is owned by New Balance, the lawsuit appeal will probably get even uglier.

But please pics, pics, pics.

I'll probably still buy this re-released X2, or "Excailbur" as it will be called according to your post.

I saw the G22 gloves today at a STX tent and they didn't even look like they were even made out of the same material as gloves now (like leather/synthetic leather). Granted, I didn't get to try them on, but it just looked like all of it was this mesh-like material. They don't look nearly as flashy as the other gloves that came out this year (K18s, Superflys, Kings), and I thought the black ones were extremely ugly.

I also saw a shaft that is kind of hard to explain....it was wavy. It looked like a regular shaft that kind of got smooshed together a little. The STX guy said it felt like it had a tape job, but it won't tear up your gloves like tape or the other sandpaper grips on some shafts.

If not, at least try to find out if the new version will fit on regular straight shafts, or if it's going to part of the Crankshaft 10 line.

it was on a normal scandium i think

so straight shafts

and yeah i forgot about the shaft it was like ripply but smooth at the bottom it felt good in my hands..as odd as that sounds, but yeah weird

Wow, today I was at a lacrosse tournament and I went into STX's new booth. Holy [no profanity], they had some sick equipment. They showed me all of this new stuff coming out this fall that are just ridiculous. He showed me these new gloves that really caught my eye, the new G22's. They are by far the most comfortable gloves that will be on the market, however they lose some points with me because they are all black, hopefully they will make different colors. The other thing that caught my eye was the new crankshaft. It was teardrop shaped and felt amazing in my hands, and extremely light. The thing that bothers me is that I cant remember the name. Does anyone know? If you know for a fact please post.

I never thought I would see the day the x2 came back as something else. STX apparently figured out they can make a huge load of money of this head. So basically it looked like an x2 and basically was an x2, but was called the xcalibur?

so stick that in your pipe and smoke it

Is it offset? I'm baffled as to why STX didn't call it the X2 (or X4 if they want to keep it going with all the Xs'...). People will flock to an X2. I can't say the same for the Excalibur...

wolfie8914

Bringing back the X2 is by far the smartest move STX has ever made. Other than introducing the head way back when.

But its a shame that it took a rules change to get STX to bring it back.

I am sorry as of right now we do not have any pictures of these products to send out. We are still working on that. We do have a head coming out that is similar to the X2. It will not be called the Excalibur but the G22. I would keep an eye on the website for the updated pictures of the new lines.

Maybe1232

Thats not good because i don't like crank shafts. They don't make sense because you have to by a new shaft to get the offset that the shaft gives you.

It's to avoid the offset patent. Every head a company makes pays Brine to use an offset for the head.

06-14-2007, 12:21 PM
All along i thought the g22 was gonna be for a regular shaft, man i am so disapointed. Why don't they just go back to the forward cant, everything would be so much better. I would think they are trying to find away around the patent because the shaft stuff can't be selling as much as regular gear is.

After looking at the new gear a second time, I've come to a couple conclusions...

The g22 is nothing like the x2, except for the sidewall design. The whole head is a lot thinner and seems flimsier. Also its really wide. I asked the guy what was so good about this head and all he could come up with is "its really light".

The xcalibur- Exactly like the x2. Can't wait for this to come out, it will be a beast.

Btw- tried to get pics, but the stx rep saw and got kind of steamed.

got new info this is very intresting

Your dad is a very intelligent person. Our fall line is coming out with two new heads, the G22 which is designed by Gary Gait. The Excalibur is also coming back as a remake of the X2, so that should make many people very happy. We have been getting lots of e-mails about how much people enjoyed the X2 so we had to bring it back with a few tweaks. We also have numerous poles coming out in the fall. Keep checking the website for release dates on these new products. Thanks for choosing STX.

ill throw my two cents in...

gloves g22: they are nice, very very nice. i still think that my exodus 2's are more flexible. the g22's are the lightest gloves i have put on hands down.

arms: too big in the g22 line, but they aren't bad. if you wear bigger pads with a lot of protection...you will find comfort in these.

shoulder: new concept, new padding...but same protection level as the high end warrior's with the huge football/hockey style. take that protection but cut the weight in half! be prepared to shell out a lot of cash for these though.

g22 head: light light light light light light light. stiff? not bad, pretty stiff actually....to me it seems like its a tad weak, but triangles are amazingly strong though...

excalibur: this thing is a middie, defensemans dream!

shafts, the vandium shift is going to be THE shaft to have this year. i think thats the name of it...

my kid is going to the Brothers camp in maplewood nj and gait was there..he told me whaterver equipment that is being displayed at the tournaments/camps will actually be much lighter when they go into production for the general public..the gloves feel totally broken in right away and the material is supposed to wick away the sweat like under armour they also have rubber strips in the palms and fingers which is supposed to help with grip! the shoulder pads are extremely soft/lightweight and have ridges to actually help them stay off your body so that they do not become soaked in sweat. the elbow pads are a little bulky for my taste but made of the same material as for the stick(g-22) the head reminds me of a torque and an x3 as for the shaft it was a prototype but it was VERY light ...the theme of the total package is black rubber imagine if batman designed lax equipment and the g-22 stuff would be it

i think g22 is for crankshafts and the new xaliber is for regular ones

you are correct..

very close in characteristics of the g22 and the excal....

weight is the only difference (less sidewall material on the support beams on the g22)
