I got a letter from the coach at McDaniel College today. It's a DIII school in Westminster, MD. I checked out the school's website and it definitely, from what I saw, fits the profile of the type of school I'm aiming for. However, I was wondering if anybody here had ever been there or knew anything about it that may be helpful. And please don't tell me I need to visit it for myself, I know that, and I probably will when I'm in MD this summer. I just wanted to see if any of you guys had any additional information/comments about the school or the lacrosse team.

The coach there is awesome. Is it Matt Hatton? Met him at camp, cool guy, definitely the kind of coach I would like to play for. He was a respectable coach; one that was demanding and approachable. I didn't find anything condescending about him. If you end up playing at McDaniel you will probably enjoy being coached. I talked to a recent graduate of the lacrosse program (summer of '06) and he only had good things to say about playing at McDaniel. Definitely go and visit. Especially visit the coach and talk to the players.

Yeah, I talked to the head coach through e-mail, he seemed cool, and was very helpful. Also, talked to the assistant coach on the phone, I think his name was like Seshel, but he seemed very cool on the phone, and easy to converse with and relate to. Didn't actually visit or anything, but it definitely looks nice on the internet. Good luck!

Lacrosse wise, they are in the third/fourth tier of DIII talent. They play a pretty soft out of conference schedule, which makes their record a bit inflated. Their conference though, is very good.

i live like 10 minutes away and have been there many times for camps and tryouts. they have a really nice feild but the team isnt really that good, but it costs a lot to go there. also you have to have very good grades to get in, so if that fits you then go for it

I just went to the STX/Laxworld tournament at McDaniel. Nice campus I guess. I talked to Matt Hatton and he was a good guy. I know he sent a lot of letters to a lot of kids, its his first year as head coach so hes trying to build up the program. Their field is really nice, and their facilities are pretty top notch cuz thats where the ravens practice.

At all-world lacrosse camp the head coach was giving a speech about recruiting. One thing i remember he said was that one kid on the team who was pretty good got bogged down with grades and other things and never got time to lift. When they took their second recorded lifting session (in which this was recorded to track progress) the kids max went down. The coach said he cut the kid from the team. Just because its DIII doesnt mean you dont take it seriously.
