What are the advantages of having a wooden shaft compared to a metal shaft?
What are the disadvantages?
How much does a wooden midfield shaft weigh compared to a metal shaft?

Wooden shafts look sweet, but they're a little bit heavier. My hickory woodie is about 11-12 oz.

How much do most regular shafts weigh?

not much, woodies are significantly heavier. I prefer it though because I feel like I've got some swing behind my checks and it's easier to crack someones ribs. Not to mention you don't have to worry about it being broken in box or when cross checking

Here are some weights http://www.lacrosseforums.com/showthread.php?t=42386 so an average would be like 7.5-8 oz

Okay, well that means that the wooden ones are only a few ounces heavier.. that isn't too bad, and i think that it would be worth it considering how solid they are and how long they would last.

I think around 35-40 dollars, but it depends on what wood you get. He does a great job though, I have one from him.

I don't know about you guys but my homemade ash pole looks brand new after each game that is in the rain. So basically after the rain pops out the dents I looks brand new every time.

thats because the wood swells when it is wet

Or what would you guys prefer? Because I don't know if the lightest wood would be the best choice...

well depending on what kind and who you get it from more or less it'll be cheaper then your average metal shaft plus they'll last you quite awhile aswell , its really a judgement call

wooden shaft-heavier/maintainence required etc.-different characteristics depending on wood/process-durable-reliable-comfort grip-/feel to it-overall sweet looking-
metal-light-strong-simple-basic reliable less maintainence-more probable to break due to temp changes in the metals-
